Looks like all the eleven writers in the room only write for Walter, storylines, scenes, sentences and that they have no time left for Olivia and Peter, so they just copy the Polivia fanfiction.
I feel so sorry for Anna Torv, such a great actress having to say those awful sentences from episode 11 until now. Hopefully that will change soon.

Sadly, I have to agree, AnTo. I keep hoping that much like season-1 Olivia, it’s a deliberate choice, but I don’t think so. I find myself, at times, wishing Olivia would say less with her mouth and more with her face…much more expressive!

I for one who was laughing hard :D , I don’t think that Olivia is changing , look to her expressions .. she is smiling but hiding something there …. she is just playing as how Peter is playing ….. I think it’s a genus acting from the both Anna and Josh , Anna has many ways to revive the black and white , this vid is a witness .

again , look to Peter’s face at the end .. he knows that there is something and the smile on Olivia’s face ain’t a sweet !! I don’t know but that how i did take it .

The writers are knowing what to do and why they did it like that … remember “trust” … Peter I think is doing what Fauxlivia is liking him to do and Olivia isn’t a stupid woman she can read it as she is hinting about something else .

Oh i can’t wait I want to see this ep now now now :D

I think you could be right. This conversation COULD be Olivia’s way of saying, ” I’m on to you Petah, tell me about your new little shapeshifter hobby.” or ” Not only am I on to you, I’ve seen your workshop-o-death-to-all-things-mercury and want to see if you really are going to be honest.”

Here’s Hoping that this is the guise under which we will find then having this discussion.

I don’t understand why day after day, in every Fringe news I only read negativity. Olivia is happy, finally. Soon she will be sad again, so let’s she smile for a while.
It’s Fringe guys, the end of the season will be all sci-fi stuff, so what about a closure for all the drama of past weeks? We needed this. The circle needed to end and now we can move on.

It’s strange that she’s even going through with any of this after what she learned about Peter from Simon at the end of ‘concentrate and ask again’.

        • Rodrigo says

But in 6B she did tell Peter what she’s thinking (about Simon’s little note) and he explain how he feels, don’t you remember that?

Then, she accept his side of the history and they take the next step

So she should take the words of a STRANGER over the man she has known for 3 years? That wouldn’t make any sense.

walter and nina! yay! :) they’re so cute!
but walter’s a bit demanding (even imperious) towards astrid lately, isn’t he?

anyone an idea how much time has passed since the last ep? olivia being so comfortable around peter… seems like it’s been a few weeks…

Even as a Peter and Olivia fan I must admit that some of their scenes have been … clunkily writtten. Esepecially (sadly) Olivia’s lines. They just don’t seem quite natural for her. The more I watch the scene above the more the end bothers me. It starts off quite cute and then it’s like the writer’s didn’t quite know what to do.

There are bright spots (I think the end scene of 6B was fine) and I think Josh and Anna are still doing a great job with their scenes, but what they’re worklng with isn’t ideal.

Love that Walter and Nina scene though.

Well I would have agreed with you about the clunky dialog. However, I would then have to believe that my husband a I are clunky because we’ve had this exact conversation (almost to a tee). I hate when he does this.
      I.E.

Hubby: Sure I’ll rub your back for you.
Me: Thanks that would be great.
      two minutes later…
Great cavernous hole in my back where he’s repeatly circling the same small spot.

      Don’t you hate reality TV?

Thank you! I watched the scene several times to see, what was so bad about the conversation. A couple in love are talking about couple-y stuff and getting to know each other. The horror!

It would be so much better to have them drive in mournful silence.

I understand what most people are saying about Olivia’s lines, but I actually don’t mind it so much. I think maybe we’re just so used to seeing her so damaged and so defensive that when we finally see her let her guard down, her ‘vulnerability’, being a little more happy we’re not used to it. This side of Olivia sort of reminds me of how Olivia was in the beginning i.e. in a ‘relationship’ but a further developed. I completely trust the writers and am willing to go along for the ride.

Can’t wait to see more interactions between Nina and Walter. Their scenes are always epic!

Totally agree with the Olivia part! It is just a little weird for us to see her in a relationship and her smile and banter kind of probably reminds everyone of Fauxlivia – hence the disgust!
But, I think it is not unlikely that Olivia and Faux-livia act similar in certain ways with the same man…..

So Olivia should be miserable while she is with peter? I thought being with a person is to make each other happy…not sad. Also, how is this any different than when we saw her with John Scott? I mean the very first scene has her smiling and bantering “This bed is loud”.

what bothers me the most is the fact that despite, in this season, we had much anna torv screen time (which is wonderful) we miss our olivia from s2 & s1,in the beginning we had olivia with altrivia’s memories, we waited till perhaps she gets back and things could maybe get normal but it’s like they changed her character to fit the storyline , I know that something had to shift in her personality after her experiences, but It’s not like they have to radically modify the character which I didn’t quit apreciate. they spent two seasons building such a great character just to have her say “nonsenses” right now, I also miss when she focuses at the cases trying passionatelly to reach answers, when now they have her jump every important moment and roughly repeat the same words just in different expressions. I love her character so much and I wish they stop playing with main characters for the storyline’s sake, I think they did the same thing with peter’s character earlier this season , I badly wish they give the actors really deserve to project their genuine characters, and I thik the most reason why olivia and peter’s scenes together still seem lovely to watch , is anna torve and josh jackson’s hilarious performances .

I think her saying the same lines at important moments just goes on to show how much she had invested (probably even unknown to herself) in Peter….afterall, she crossed universe to save him and get him back…..

It’s been noticed. She is too unlike her normal self. Too much like Fauxlivia, making the difference between the two and the effectiveness of that difference somewhat weaker than previous.

And what is so wrong with peter driving? I mean honestly. There are far more important things going on than Peter driving stick. Olivia may be the lead female and butt kicker but that doesn’t mean she is above Peter. Maybe she didn’t feel like driving?

This is what i love about Olivia, she treats Peter like an equal not as her slave who is supposed to follow her around. They are human beings you know.

There is nothing wrong with Peter driving…when they’re not working (i.e. Going to the grocery store, the movies, dinner, etc.). However, when they are working I look to Olivia as Peter’s superior (in a working sense) and his liason and therefore why would he drive her to a crime scene?

Again, it’s not a big deal and the least of which makes me roll my eyes between these two lately. It’s more funny than anything :-)

      • Endor says

There is nothing wrong at all in Peter driving, it’s just that Olivia *always* drives her car unless she’s wounded, it’s part of her need to be in control of everything. I mean, in three seasons she let Peter drive *once* by her own choice, and he ended up playing with the siren!

I know it’s a completely dumb and useless detail, but to me it says more than the whole dialogue because it clearly shows Olivia relinquishing control to Peter. All in all, it’s just funny…

    • says

Ha! The only thing that would be more obvious ( and totally unnecessary) is if they had a discussion about the driver shift before getting in the car. Here’s hoping that is 1 Polivia conversation we do not need to be flies on the wall for.

LOL Endor ! haha .. I feel the same way , i remember 2 times Olivia did let Peter drive , one when she was injured the second in s1 when he asked her to drive the car just to switch on the sound of the alert , he said it must be for every one to try the cop’s car with this sound and Olivia said to him oh that’s why you want to drive the car ? lol haha

I think Olivia has a reason for that .. wait and see the episode .

    Soul magnets.
As in: a plot from the writers to ‘create’ a new body for William Bell, so another actor can take the place of Leonard Nimoy. …?
If so, please let it be Zachary Quinto!

I love the Walter/Nina scene but…and maybe it’s just me…but I’m missing the “mysterious” and “maybe malevolent” Nina Sharp from season 1. You know, how she always kept us guessing about who’s side she is really on. Heck, even Season 2 had her doing questionable things (the clone kid with the mental powers). Now she’s just Astrid #2.

Regarding the Peter/Olivia clip, I think everyone has to remember that this is ONE part of ONE scene in the episode — it needs to be viewed under that context. Yes, this clip is all about the Peter/Olivia relationship, and yes, it means we’re seeing a different side of Olivia. But Olivia is still the dedicated, committed FBI agent that we know and love and there will be plenty of other moments throughout the episode in which we will see that emphasized. But this new relationship with Peter is obviously something very important to her — which is why she was so devastated when she found out about him and alternate Olivia, and it’s why she has been so focused on that relationship ever since she got back. So obviously it’s going to be something that’s on her mind and something she talks about. What would be unnatural would be if she was completely ignoring it. Everyone is talking about how her character has been reduced to a pitiful, repetitive, love-sick girl, but that would only be true if she was being like we see her in this clip throughout the entire episode. But that’s not what we’re going to get. We’re going to see Olivia in love. And we’re going to see Olivia working on a case.

I thought it was a cute scene, and I liked seeing how the relationship is progressing with them. I think it’s interesting to see how being in love does change Olivia, but she’s still nowhere close to the person alternate Olivia was pretending to be. I like how they’re being true to her character in that way. I’ve never really understood the whole “Olivia never smiles” point of view. In the course of three seasons, we have seen that, while she is damaged and serious, she is also perfectly capable of smiling and being happy and teasing people… But the way she does it is very different from alternate Olivia. And this clip really emphasizes that. I think it’s incredible how they are portraying Olivia in love and it’s obviously very different than alternate Olivia with Peter. It’s the same general situation, but the difference is clear. I think that shows fantastic writing and acting.

In general, I liked the playful tone to the scene and I liked the underlying theme of trust that was being conveyed through that discussion. I think that level of trust is a big next step for their relationship, and if they can successfully achieve that, it will be a big strength for them when they encounter future obstacles to their relationship.

So one other thing that stood out to me in this clip — perhaps the biggest thing from that clip for me — was Olivia’s description of how Peter will rub her back in a circle “over and over and over”. The first thing I thought of was how Roco is constantly emphasizing the cyclical theme to the show. It seemed to me that that discussion was purposely designed that way in order to provide a clever reference to that cyclical nature. In my mind, I viewed it as a very tongue-in-cheek thing from the writers to subtly refer to that theme in a seemingly insignificant discussion between Peter and Olivia. And I thought that was neat.

It appears to be the whole scene, and the context is somewhat obvious – the only thing unknown is the amount of time that has passed.

But most are talking about how clunky the dialogue is, which is no other fault than of the writers.

It is the dialogue, and not just here, but from episode 11 onwards.
I think it is insulting to the actors; in fact the writers are lucky to hem these two, because in less capable hands, they would have been burned.

If Noble would have had to utter these lines every episode just see where that would leave him and how many complaints there would be, probably most of all by the man himself.

Come to think of it: I would have loved if Anna Torv would get a chance to play Walter, would give her great lines, scenes and be funny , she has great comic timing. And the critics would put her on a pedestal instead of Noble.

Hmm, I’m willing to bet if they gave Noble those lines, people would STILL love him. Walter hardly gets any criticism at all, even when he is doing the wrong things. LOL.

Broken record here, but I don’t think it’s any surprise that Walter and Olivia are acting increasingly like their opposite numbers. I think that’s the entire point. Walternate and Fauxlivia are doing the same thing. It’s very, very intentional.

Walter maybe moving towards Walternate, actually he already was that before Bell removed part of his brain,
but Fauxlivia is cocksure and would by no means have accepted peter knowing that he was with her double before. According to Anna Torv herself: Fauxlivia would eat Peter alive.

Typical fanboy reactions. Let’s hate aggressively on any romance and blame it on the writing.

This show isn’t just about sci fi/mythology etc

Olivia and Peter are some of the most rounded and complex characters on TV today. If they fall in love, then they’re going to act like it. Its normal!

I for one love their relationship and quite frankly its the only reason I tune in. The writers are doing an amazing job crafting this relationship to be as real and non cliche as possible. So stop hating on it.

ok, Its not the only reason I tune in, but it’s a big part of it. A large part of the continuity of season 3 depends on their relationship.
