Fringe Sees ‘Jacksonville’ DVR Gains

by Roco on February 23, 2010 · 3 comments

With DVR ratings seemingly having a larger bearing on whether or not shows make the cut for another season, it’s worth keeping tabs on how the Fringe viewing audience is recording the show, and how soon afterwards they are watching it. Last week’s DVR figures for The Bishop Revival were good – adding to the overall viewing figures and the key demographic.

Now, almost 3 weeks after it aired, we have the DVR figures for the winter finale that was Jacksonville (they take a few weeks to be calculated), and the news continues to be positive. Hit the jump for the continuation of positive news.

Daily Poll: Do You DVR Joshua Jackson?

by Roco on November 27, 2009 · 12 comments

you must at least DVR me or the Universe will collapse!Fringe has had to learn some hard lessons this season, the main one being that “there’s more than one of everything” – including TV shows that air on a Thursday night.

But while Fringe may not be getting the same amount of live viewers as this time last season, it’s worth pointing out that the show is performing pretty well in DVR ratings. It seems that many fans are recording Joshua Jackson and the other Fringies on their DVR’s and watching them later when Meredith has gotten over her issue of the week . While this isn’t as helpful (to the show’s survival) as watching it live, it proves that there’s a following out there who care enough to at least tape the episodes.

Last night’s ‘Power Hungry’ episode of Fringe was watched by 9.53 million viewers:

This is a firm number, and whilst more people watched The Mentalist, Fringe is still wining over the all important key demos, as reported by TVByTheNumbers:

Earlier in the day I’d facetiously declared The Mentalist, not Fringe as the season’s new hit.  The truth is, both shows are hits depending on how you want to look at it.  The Mentalist won the hour in total viewers, even besting Dancing With the Stars, but while The Mentalist had more than 50% more total viewers than Fringe, Fringestill easily bested it among 18-49 year olds and when it came to 18-34 year olds, Fringe performed 100% better (3.8 rating vs. 1.9 rating).

More positive ratings news comes in the shape of the DVR figures, which Fringe is ruling. The DVR figures from the pilot episode have recently been compiled and show a massive 20% increase in Fringe’s viewing figures – up to 11.38 million from 9.4 million.

So, if you like this show and you’re unable to watch it as it airs, remember to set those DVR’s!!
