Fringe Season 2 Set Photos
Here are a bunch of season 2 filming photos from the set of Fringe. As someone who’s been spoiler-free throughout the 5 years of “Lost”, it pains me to look at these things – some of them are quite revealing in a non-revealing, out of context kind of way. But click past the jump if you just can’t wait til’ September 17.
- Akiva Goldsman looks to be back for more Fringe-lovin’.
- Olivia gets into another fine mess.
- Meghan Markle in a scene with Joshua Jackson.
- That is a lovely shade of blue on that car.

Yeah, so much for “sexing up” Megan’s character.
She looks alright to me
But yeah, they seem to be portraying her as a professional FBI agent, which is what I expected all along. That said, we’re only going off one pic.
Is that Olivia in that pic?
Yep (well, it looks more like a stunt double, but I reckon it’s supposed to be Dunham). I think she’ll be OK, but I could have done without seeing that pic
I guess what we have speculating was right …. that Olivia did jump from one reality to another while she was on her way to meet Nina at the Mutsumi Hotel on Broadway.
If you go back to look at the near car crash on the NY street, there is indeed a frame jump (which commonly used to signify reality jump), Olivia avoided the crash in the alternate reality but not the original one.
No wonder why Nina never show up and people from her office say she was “out of the country”.
Hummmmm…very interesting!
I agree that Olivia ‘jumped’ realities – certainly during the elevator ride, and possibly during the ‘near miss’ prior to that (that scene was there for a reason) – that said, it doesn’t tally with Olivia being outside of the car..unless she went through the windscreen. *goes back to check whether she was wearing her seatbelt*.
Of course, different realities offer different possibilities later on down the line. The ‘crash/accident’ (pic 3) also looks to be in a different spot from the near miss.
I guess this also begs the question of whether or not season 2 picks up immediately where S1 left off.
I like the new FBI agent— really pretty, without taking the practicality out of crime fighting. They have such a great cast though, everyone fits really well.
Yep – if she can act and the character serves a purpose then we’re on to a winner.
This small glimpse is encouraging though.
That was my first thought —- that this is showing Olivia on the way to see Bell and the “near miss” ….. but the other pics do show a lot of elements that were probably not there in the season finale. Of course, the Twin Towers are not there in our reality either, so ………….. hmm ……..
I’m rather confused as well. There seems to be too much in common for it to be something other than an alternate reality version of the “near miss” from when Olivia was going to meet Nina. It’s definitely supposed to be Olivia — she’s even wearing the exact same outfit. And the cars make sense as well — in the near miss scene, you can see that the other car was silver, like the one in the pictures, and they obviously hit in the same position that they would have if Olivia hadn’t managed to avoid the other car. I can even understand the location looking different since they had to move filming to Canada after season 1. But there are other differences that don’t make sense. The most noticeable one I could find is the license plate on the car Olivia was driving in the episode is her typical Massachusetts one, while the one in these pictures looks to be New York. I can’t think of an explanation for that.
As for why would Olivia be outside of the car, I figure it would be because of paramedic lifesaving attempts. There’s an accident, paramedics arrive, take her out of the car, try to save her, but aren’t able to. You can’t really tell from the pictures where the body is in regards to the rest of the scene, so it’s possible she’s right next to the car.
I agree that Olivia definitely jumped realities in the elevator, but I’m still not sold on the idea that the near miss was another jump. It just wasn’t made obvious enough — the elevator was VERY clear, so I would expect there would be similar signs if that had been what happened while she was driving, but there really wasn’t anything aside from it being unexpected.
One additional thought that I had is that we’ve all been assuming Meghan’s character was brought in to replace Charlie. What if she’s really brought in to replace Olivia after she dies in the accident? We’d still have Olivia in the universe with William Bell, but in the universe with the car crash we’d see Meghan’s character working with the team. It’s a way out there theory that’s probably not true at all, but it’s just an idea I had while looking at these pictures, so I figured I’d share.
Interesting idea. I think MM’s character is supposed to be “recurring” – not a main character, but this could work depending on how often we’ll be visiting this alter-world, if indeed the show will be divvying up realities in this manner.
When I look at the Season 2 pics above, and re-watch parts of 1.20, one thing that stands out to me is the very apparent difference of season between the events involving D.R. Jones (i.e. jackets, toques, gloves and scarves on everyone, not to mention trees completely bare of leaves) and the period beginning with Nina’s phone call to Olivia to return to NYC to meet Wm. Bell (trees in front of Olivia’s home in full bloom, pedestrians in NYC in summer clothing). Clearly the Vancouver street scene shows a climate seldom enjoyed by the Fringemeisters in Season 1. Anyway, there seems to be some considerable passage of time between DRJ getting his personality split, and Olivia being invited to NYC.
I believe this scene must be the aftermath of the ‘near miss’, what with the similar attire and silver car, and I think we’re all in agreement that the near miss was no accident (so to speak).
Interesting observations – I’ll have to keep an eye out for these subtle differences pre and post-Jones-slice when I go back over the episodes.
At the time it seemed as if Olivia’s trip to meet Bell took place days if not hours after the Jones incident – Broyles gave her the bad news about dropping the investigation into Bell and Olivia went home to sulk. Then Nina calls her to keep her ‘promise’ – it all seems take place within a tight time-frame, but you may have a point about the subtle changes between the events.
Climate anomalies are no stranger to “Fringe”.
John Scott died in weather like this, but before friends and family could gather for his funeral, the weather had taken a decided turn for the wayyyyyyy better.
One can only wonder if the Bureau, with all its resources, took 3 months to locate Scott’a next of kin.
I wouldn’t be surprised. After all, Broyles runs a tight ship
I read on a site that the first episode has to be a man who can change shape and is changing its face so I do not think that is the true Olivia I think it’s the guy who has transformed her.
I think that once Olivia encountered a car on the street, the camera followed “our” Olivia who avoided the accident and went on to the meeting and sat in the restaurant awaiting William Bell. She proceeds to the elevator and travels to a parallel reality where she meets Bell. The other Olivia (alter-Dunham), the one who wasn’t able to avoid the crash, died in her reality.
It is unknown, however, if in the elevator our Olivia travelled to the reality with her doppelgänger dead, or into some another one. As of today, we cannot be sure how many realities are involved: two, three, or more. (Personally, I think two is confusing enough.) That is why the question remains: did a new reality branch off when a crash happened/did not happen, or did it already exist?
