Welcome to “Observer Week” here on FB. Below the jump we have more build up to Thursday’s much anticipated episode of Fringe, and speculation on the future of William Bell as we know him.
Here’s a new promo for Thursday’s episode:

Has there ever been a more hyped episode of Fringe that’s not a premiere or season finale? I don’t think there has been. It’s great to see FOX supporting the show with “Observer Week”, it’s clearly created a positive buzz, and more than that, it has allayed some of the fears over their commitment (or lack of) to the show. Some might ask why they didn’t do something like this sooner, although ‘dream thief week’ and ’shadow week’ might have been a harder sell. I guess the real proof will be in the ratings though.
Here’s a nifty video proving that there’s more than one of everything:

There’s that number 8 again (08:17). This coincidence is becoming more and more of a pattern.
Even the news is talking about the Observers..

Elsewhere, in an interview with ComingSoon.net, Leonard Nimoy shows his total and complete commitment to Fringe (mild filming spoiler):
“The character of William Bell is described as a very wealthy and very intelligent and brilliant scientist,” Nimoy said. “It was great fun to stand in front of the camera and say, ‘I’m William Bell. Here I am.’” I enjoyed it. I committed to do three episodes. I have filmed the three -- two of them have already aired. One will be on the air in the near future. We’ll see a little bit more of William Bell and after that there is no more commitment.”
This old chestnut again -- the will he, wont he open-ended interview answers. Which is fair enough, but to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if Nimoy doesn’t do many more episodes of Fringe. Just my opinion. The producers have plenty of ‘outs’ though -- Bell is both sick and stuck “over there”. Perhaps one way to overcome both of those issues is to transfer his consciousness in to a shapeshifter. Wow, I think I just wrote a (crappy) episode of Fringe.
Hey Fringe Fan! Welcome to Fringe Bloggers, please enjoy your stay.

Observers are here!!!

Excuse me if I’m wrong but doesn’t he say here that he won’t commit to the show after the 3rd episode?
There is more than one of everything… including William Bell. Who is to say that Alter-Belly hasn’t had reconstructive facial surgery? Just cuz Nimoy goes doesn’t mean Belly has to. And while Nimoy said “there is no more commitment” that could simply be the state of the negotiations at the time of said statement. That is NOT to say “there will be no further commitment”. You sly dog Lenny!
code?
From an earlier interview when Nimoy was speaking about his art and how his life had changed since he “retired” from film. I doubt he stays with the show very long. In hindsight it was probably a bad casting for the role if they expected to get more than one season out of him.
He looked pretty healthy and good at the Star Trek DVD release party! I wouldn’t worry…Nimoy will live long and prosper.
