The results are in for our first-ever Fringe Fridays Art Contest! As outlined here, we’ve chosen one winner based on the entry that gave us the most Fringebumps. But, in truth, everyone who entered is a winner. Everyone is VICTORIOUS. The creativity, detail, effort, and humor on show is simply fantastic. Great to see people’s expressions of what Fringe Fridays means to them.
As mentioned, there’s no physical prize for entering, apart from a doff of my hat and the showcasing of all the entries. And we all know that’s enough. (right?). Anyway, without further ado, head past the jump to see the artistic glory of Fringe Fridays!
Sophia‘s entry is quirky, funny, brilliantly illustrated, and features an appearance from each of the main characters. And…is that Sophia in the middle being greeted after a long Friday? Seriously, I love the story. And each of them are doing something interesting. Careful with that shoulder rub there, Peter. Olivia has her eye on you. (Tee-Hee).
This is quite the ‘Fringe Friday’! And if it wasn’t already made of enough win, the glyphs are the cherry on the icing.
Very Honorable Mentions (Random Order)
ShyBaldBuddhist, I have observed your entry with great delight.
Not only is this a mind-blowingly awesome depiction of ‘Fringe Fridays’, there’s a floating Fringe title and you’ve even embedded Fringe eastereggs for us to find! If you’re not careful, we’ll start up an Observations column just for this drawing. And is that an eyeball hanging from the ceiling. Sick, fantastically sick!
Admittedly, I spent half the time trying to work out what Ralph had scribbled out in red. But this is a fantastic public enquiry poster. You also pose a couple of questions – 1. What is the Observer, if not human? 2. How does one contact Fringe Division, because I’m sure I’ve seen dude somewhere. [You can find more of Ralph’s art here].
Steve S. Entry #2
Steve has skills, y’all. The toon-style Broyles is toonarific, the message is loud and clear, and it’s so good to see TV Guide making ‘Fringe Fridays’ their cover story. [You can find more of Steve’s art at: cartoonsteve.com]
Cortexifan shows us how much Fringe means to them by using their wheels as 24-hour ad-space. That’s dedication for you. There’s even a cute little ‘Fringe Friday’ magnet on the booty, which Cortexifan credits to the Fringe Movement.
Observer1 Entry #1
Observer 1 has a freaky-good list for Friday night. This list should be stuck on TV sets up and down the land! I’m not quite sure where the missing list items are, but perhaps that’s part of the dastardly Pattern? Are mind-games afoot!?
Steve S. Entry #1
The black and white version of the Steve S. toon. Still a keeper. Go on TV Guide, you know it makes sense.
Heather – Entry #2
Smart idea. Heather treats us to Olivia Dunham’s ID pass. But which Olivia Dunham is it? Dun, dun, dun!
Andreia – Entry #1
Observer1 – Entry #2
Observer 1 wants everyone to know that Fringe Freaky Fridays has arrived.
Heather – Entry #1
I wouldn’t normally give a thumbs up to one, let alone TWO pictures of Peter’s grin, but I appreciate the duality theme. And is Olivia aiming that gun at Peter’s head? Crumbs, how 2011.
Andreia – Entry #2
Ha! I like the way CH thinks. Someone needs to hang this up and frame it.
Thanks again to everyone who picked up their pencils, brushes, fingers, graphic editors, and, most of all, imaginations, to enter this contest. You’re all winners, and your stunning acts of creativity will live on here at Fringe Bloggers for 8 timelines!
As a note: If you sent in an entry and it has not been featured above, then it must have slipped by somehow. Hopefully this hasn’t happened, but if it has, please let me know and I’ll update the post as soon as I can. We might also do more of these depending how things go.
