Fox Confident Over Fringe Future

by Roco on January 13, 2009 · 2 comments

Fox NetworkDuring last weeks TCA press tour executive session Q&A , Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly made some very positive sounds over the future of “Fringe” and the possibility of a second season (fingers crossed!):

On “Fringe,” which Reilly seemed to heavily hint will be coming back next fall and is about to get an “American Idol” lead-in. “It’s a keeper … they’ve really found the storytelling model now … what you’re going to see in the second half in the year, if you follow the serialized story you’re going to find [satisfying content each week and yet] the stories really do re-set themselves each week … I would not expect it to take off after ‘Idol’ but I do think it will tick up another level.”

If you compare and contrast these words to what another Fox exec, Peter Liguori had to say about ”Dollhouse” (soon to air on Fox), it’s clear that Fox are very optimistic about the future of “Fringe”.

Here are some scans featuring Joshua Jackson in the latest Cosmopolitan Magazine.

Joshua Jackson plus article

Here’s an excerpt from his interview:

CM: Any close calls on the Fringe set?
JJ: During a torture scene, I had a wire up my nose, and it pierced my sinus. I was gushing blood. That’s when you realize what you do for a living is totally absurd.

There are numerous rumors floating around the internet that Joshua Jackson will be on the back cover of the February issue of Cosmopolitan. The magazine has not hit the shelves yet, but I do have an advanced copy of the cover (thanks to JustJared.com)…

By now many of you will have read or seen YouTube clips of The Observer’s very public appearance at the Giants/Eagles game on Sunday. Yesterday I made a joke about him mistaking the NFL football for his cylinder-shaped beacon, but perhaps there are some genuine clues in his appearance (other than a clever marketing ploy)?

Observers Are Indeed "Here"

It took many of us totally by surprize and reminds me why Fringe is the show to watch (even when you’re not watching it). But in truth, we’ve already been warned; “Observers Are Here”, was the secret message given to us in code by the shows creators. It seems that they meant this very very literally. Because as fun as it was to see CBG (‘creepy bald guy’, for the uninitiated) at the game, it could be argued to be the first Continue reading..

So much is made of The Observer’s ‘powers of observation’. They say that he never misses a trick, that he’s the sharpest knife in the draw. But I don’t know, I think he might be losing it since the tragic death of Mark Young. Take his appearance at today’s NFL game between the Giants and the Eagles, for example – it’s obvious that he was looking for his cylinder/beacon-thingy (last seen disappearing into the ground in “The Arrival”):

The Beacon

Unfortunately for our bald friend, NFL footballs look too similar to Continue reading..

Fringe might be on hiatus, but The Observer, it seems, never stops doing what he does best. Here he is watching todays NFL game between the Giants and the Eagles:

Could this be the latest in the long line of pattern events, or is the line between reality and fiction blurring ever further? Keep your eyes peeled for further sightings, something tells me he might show up where we least expect him. ;)
