Fringe Round-up

The continuation of the lowly Lowatus means that there’s no episode of Fringe tonight. Instead we’ll have to make do with trying to scope out the Observer at the baseball.

Nevermind, we laugh in the face of the Lowatus! Below the jump we have some more Fringe-items to keep us going..

Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails has collaborated with Fringe for a new promo spot (below) to be launched tonight during game 5 of the American League Championship Series. The promo features a reworking of NIN’s song “Zero-Sum”, with Reznor reciting dialogue from William Bell over the beats. The footage is mostly old, with a couple of new clips from the upcoming episode. Here it is:

Speaking on whether Reznor will appear on the show itself, EP Jeff Pinkner said (via EW):

“If he wants to come act on the show, that’s not tit for tat—that’s an open invitation, and we made that known to him. Any ideas on what he may play? “Well, his head would probably end up exploding,” deadpans Pinkner. “There’d be some uncomfortable biology in there one way or another.”

It’s a decent enough promo and I’m glad FOX are still pushing Fringe.

Spoiler Alert..spoiler information follows:

Sebastian RocheAs we reported last month, Sebastian Roche has been cast as the latest Fringe villain -- the leader of the shapeshifters (now confirmed). It was going to be this guy (Thomas Kretschmann), but a scheduling conflict meant he couldn’t recur.

So what do we know about Roche’s Fringe character? Well, he recently had his head sown back on, sports an ugly tattoo on his scalp and wants to open a doorway between worlds so that his crew can destroy our world. I’m sure he’s a lovely fellow once you get to know him.

And know him we shall, once we filter through the stand-alone eps *cough cough*. ;)

Elsewhere, EW‘s Ausiello has posted spoilery hints on whether we’ll see Alter-Charlie again, the possibility of meeting Olivia’s creep-dad, and offers insight into what-the-fringe happened to Amy Jessup:

Question: Have we seen the last of Charlie on Fringe? —Kevin
Ausiello: Exec producer Jeff Pinkner isn’t ruling a comeback out. “We’ve already met Charlie’s doppelganger in the alternate reality,” he says. “He still exists.” Adds fellow e.p. J.H. Wyman: “No one ever really dies on Fringe.” BTW, Pinkner insists the exit of Kirk Acevedo’s G-man was strictly a creative decision and not a reflection on the actor himself (despite that whole Facebook debacle). “We wanted to take our team out of the FBI office and a little bit more underground,” he says, “and Charlie was a [casualty] of that.”

Question: Will we meet Olivia’s evil stepfather on Fringe this season? —Zakaria
Ausiello: “We’re talking about it,” responds Jeff Pinkner. “We definitely have been talking about that.”

Question: What happened to the new female FBI agent on Fringe? I thought she was sticking around all season. —Chris
Ausiello: According to Pinkner, Special Agent Jessup (Meghan Markle) is waiting in the wings and may pop up again in the future: “There was never any length of time [assigned to her stay],” he says. “There’s no end date. She’s an available tool in our toolbox and we’ll use her as we see fit. [But] we’re really trying to tell stories about our main characters… we want to get deeper with them, so we don’t have a lot of time to go into the FBI. I think our fans really want to get to know our [core] characters more and that’s what we’re endeavoring to do this year.”

And that’s about it for today. On the other side there’s no Lowatus, so we’ll see you there. Peace!

Sebastian Roche’s previous Bad Robot experience was not uneventful.

Seen here, Roche’s character gets some words of encouragement (and a towel to bite down on) from Syd, while Dixon holds his arm steady enough to allow Vaughn to do a proper job of cutting of his finger.

What a beauty that show was!
