In From The Fringe

It’s that time of week where cover all of the bits and pieces that just missed out on having their own dedicated post coverage here on FB. We call it; In From The Fringe!

Click through the jump to find out the latest on the Fringe DVD viral, read a Fringe DVD review, watch a hidden gem from Comic-Con, glimpse the latest spoiler buzz and more!:

Remember CompleteThePattern? Yeah, the most exhilarating part was the countdown. Anyway, if you click on the DVD image on CompleteThePattern.com it sends you to the WarnerBros Fringe DVD site, where you get to watch a clip reel from the first season (embedded video below), visit their Fringe gallery and download stuff.

In my opinion, the best aspect of the site are the video clips. Perhaps not the clips I would have chosen to showcase Fringe, but the site in general does strike me as being purposefully made for newer fans of the show. Which is fair enough, I just wish they could give us something with a bit more meat to it.

Reviews for the season 1 Fringe DVD are starting to trickle through – Personally I’m most looking forward to the extras, which DVDTown talk a bit about in their review:

There is a goodly number of extras on the set’s seven discs, but they are spread out so you’ll have to hunt them down; fortunately, the booklet insert shows where everything is located. For instance, there are three full-length audio commentaries from the writers and producers, including J.J. Abrams, Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtman, J.R. Orci, David Goodman, Bryan Burk, Akiva Goldsman, and Jeff Pinkner, which you’ll find on the “Pilot” episode, “The Ghost Network,” and “Bad Dreams.” Then there are various featurettes and other brief bits assigned to each episode; these items include “Evolution: The Genesis of Fringe,” “Behind the Real Science of Fringe,” “The Massive Undertaking: The Making of Fringe,” “The Casting of Fringe,” “Fringe Visual Effects,” “Dissected Files” (unaired scenes), “Unusual Side Effects” (gag reel), “Deciphering the Scene,” a production diary from writer-producer Roberto Orci, and a “Gene the Cow” montage.

Additionally, there are twenty episode selections (two and three per disc); English as the only spoken language (my copy listed English and Portuguese on the box, with a sticker that said “No Portuguese Audio”); French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Thai subtitles; and English captions for the hearing impaired. The seven discs come housed in a large plastic keep case with three double-sided interior leaves and the aforementioned booklet insert. A cardboard slipcover box with a 3-D holographic picture on the front completes the package.

You can check out their entire review here.

I know that Comic-Con was a while ago, but here’s a pretty interesting video from UglyCouchShow featuring interviews with the producers and cast. [may contain spoilers]:

Spoiler Round-up

IMDB has the sixth episode of season 2 listed as “Earthling”. Which is a pretty cool title with pretty cool possibilities, but no aliens PLEASE! ;)

TV Guide have the latest buzz in the shape of what the boy Peter will be getting up to in the season 2 premiere:

Please tell me that Olivia and Peter are the leads who kiss on Fringe! — Pam
MICKEY:
I can say no such thing, Pam, but I will say this: Peter doesn’t really have any significant scenes with Olivia in the season premiere. But he does spend some QT with both Agent Amy Jessup (new cast member Meghan Markle) and Olivia’s sister Rachel (Ari Graynor).

Have you seen Agent Jessup? You can’t blame the guy really, can you.

Site News

Finally, regular visitors to FB will notice that we’ve changed things up a little bit. The site should be working fine but there are still a few kinks that we are working on, so certain things might not be displaying as they should just yet. That said, we hope to have everything ship-shape in the next couple of days. However, if you notice anything really weired, please let us know via email or in the comments. Thank-ya.

And that is that – just over 3 weeks until season 2 starts. Exciting!
