Hiatus, FringeBloggers – What Now?

by Roco on May 16, 2009 · 3 comments

Well folks, it’s been a great year on the Fringe. But as you all know there’s more than one of everything – including hiatuses. With the end of season hiatus upon us I thought it would be a good time to let all of our readers know what the FringeBloggers will be doing to pass the time over the summer.

Fall-Out: The Fringe Character Elimination Game — We will be running a season 5 elimination cup featuring all of the characters from season 1. We’ll be using a bracket-style tournament system to randomly draw characters against one another – from there each match-up will be posted on the blog for two days with a poll, where you can vote for your favourite character from each match-up. This will continue until only one character remains standing.

Season 1 Fringe Rewatch — We’ll be hosting a massive season 1 rewatch with our brothers and sisters over at Fringe-Forum.com! Everyone is invited to join us as we journey back together to rewatch each and every episode from the first season of Fringe. Each episode will get its own rewatch thread so that you can post your thoughts, opinions and observations from your new perspective watching the show a second time round. [it will also be a great opportunity to catch up if you're a new viewer] We’ll try to spread out each ‘air date’ to give people enough time to watch each episode. We’re still thinking about when to start this – the logical date would be once the DVD’s are released.

UPDATE: Here is our Rewatch schedule:

July 6 – July 12

  • Pilot
  • The Same Old Story

July 13 – July 19

  • The Ghost Network
  • The Arrival

Fringe: Season 1 Awards. We’ll be hosting the Fringe Season 1 Awards, where you can vote for your best and worst of the season. That includes ‘best character’, ‘best moment’, ‘best episode’, and so on. This event is scheduled to start JUNE 1 2009 and end  JUNE 10 2009.

San Diego Comic Con. We hope to have representatives live on the ground at Comic Con 2009 (should Fringe be there) reporting on the event with live commentary, photos, videos and more. If you plan to be at Comic Con this summer and want to represent Team FB, please let us know so that we can add you to our blogging squad. UPDATE: We’ve teamed up with GamingAngels.com to bring you extensive coverage of this event!

Fringe ARG. Our buddies over at FringeARG will be covering the Fringe ARG and viral campaigns. If you’re an ARG fan and you’d like to help out covering the latest on the Fringe viral/ARG, give us a shout.

Ideas. We’re always open to ideas and suggestions. Feel free to let me know if you have any suggestions.

I’ll be away on business and vacation at various stages of the summer, but the rest of the team should be back to keep things ticking over when I’m away.

I’ll add this post as under “Hiatus” in the navbar so that you can check back for updates and confirmed event dates.

Of course, this hiatus won’t be a heck of a lot longer than the one beginning in February. In other words, we’re conditioned.

For some fun summer viewing, “Burn Notice” will soon be back on USA.

Thanks for the tip, I’ve never seen this show – might give it an episode or two.
