In my opinion Newton absolutely honestly deserves the first place. He’s done the great job. I will miss this character so much. Alivia wasn’t even close to him in this episode. But I have a feeling that all of the “fungirls” will immediately rush to vote for AltLivia… brrrr

Really liked Ray could not vote for anyone other than Newton. Even when he doesn’t speak (and oh what speeches he makes when he does), he has such a powerful screen presence. Newton, I was hoping you’d be with us til the end, and oh how you will be missed!

Haha… that’s actions of another group of “fungirls” I suppose :/

Come on guys! What did Peter do in this episode to win such a great prises from you? AltLivia was waaaaay much better than Peter was but still she wasn’t that good. Newton was. Remember the last scene? No-no. Not the Petah-Liv’s one)) I’m speaking about one of the greatest scenes on Fringe ever. The talk b/w Alive and Newt and his death. That was just great. It even made me cry a bit((

I was surprised because Peter was so lame this episode. I mean, it was very human and believable, but also very disappointing.

We are talking about the characters, right? Or is it about the actors? This poll actually confuses me.

See, that’s your opinion. I found Altlivia very disappointing, I loved Peter, I adored Newton and as an actor, John Noble should win every poll from here to the moon.

          I don’t understand the complaints.

Oh, sorry, I didn’t make myself quite clearly. I thought people who like Peter would probably be so disappointed with him this episode that that would hurt him. That’s why I’m surprised.

Altlivia was by far the best in this episode, Anna Torv deserves every vote she gets. Luckily everyone with a bit of insight recognises brilliant acting.

It is a shame that peter gets those votes,he did nothing , even for 1 minute and two lines in The plateau he got all those votes, while Anna made that scene.
Jackson’s complaining over this season was a disgrace . If you complain in the press you get the attention, see the PCawards.

The fringie is worthless now, since P will be himself every episode and one second will get the girls voting.

What complaining did he do? Sorry, I don’t understand. Are you talking about him being in every other episode? Josh has never complained about that. He has always been very supportive of the altuniverse and their characters and the format they have this season and he hopes that they keep the new format. It was brought up at comicon not by him and since then he gets asked about it interviews.

I read all the interviews the cast do, and I don’t remember any complaining by him. I must of missed something?

Just a quick observation and not to stir up any unsavory debate, but I highly doubt that not voting for Altivia is any reflection of Fringe fans’ perception of Anna Torv’s acting ability in that role. I think we can all generally agree that she has been phenomenal, and her job in this episode was typically impressive. That said, it is hard if not impossible to compete with the intrigue of the Newton character, especially given the storyline here centered on the shapeshifters (and his mental/emotional mastery over Altivia). These polls are just a fun way of gauging fan perceptions of the characters in the context of the episode in question–and nothing more.

As for Peter, I wouldn’t make the assumption that some people (namely females) are necessarily voting for the character because of Josh. And I don’t know that the french a “fungirl” is btw. Peter is a central character (flawed as he is), and he’s an integral (and tragic) part of the major current storyline. If some people like the Peter character or his importance in a scene that stuck out for them then so be it.

As our flawed and seriously lost Petah would say from within the really deep, deep, dark hole he has dug for himself: it’s all about perception anyway.

Totally agree LMH. I think (and also hope) that all this is at a different level ( I would say further, if you excuse me).
I voted for Peter a couple of times, even if I don’t really like the actor (furthermore, his comments about the oncoming third season were definitely out of place).Sebastian Roche on the other hand always did a really good job in portraying a character that was easy to merely classify as “good” or “evil”. He brought Newton in the “gray area”, if you know wht I mean. And I ‘m really happy I will have the chance to see him in another show.

I’m sorry, but what comments about the third season are you talking about, that was out of place? I’m confused.

I’m confused too. I could be way off base, but maybe this has to do with Jackson expressing some disappointment that he is the only one of the main cast who doesn’t get to play two aspects of the same character? IMO, that was a typically actor-ish response to the situation, not whiny or inappropriate at all…but perhaps I’ve missed something?

Oh, I just wanted to add–I believe this weekly poll is intended to be a lighthearted and fun addition to the “Fringe” experience in which we all get to pick our favorite performance of the episode, rather than a character vs. character or actor vs. actor competition. If it starts to go in that direction, it could quickly become bitter and mean-spirited, and I for one would hate to see that happen, as this is one of the friendlier and more mature discussion sites I’ve found on the web.

Thanks LizW65, that is what I was addressing and the point I was trying to get across. This is not an actor v. actor or which character has more moral worth poll. It’s just about what each unique individual viewer thought was the most interesting character of the week for them. I’ve come across a couple slightly less civil remarks than usual in a few posts on the site and it had me worried for the very reason you point out–this site is a haven for mature discussion and friendly debate. This is the only message board-type site I visit regularly for that reason, I don’t have to worry about rudeness and I can speak my mind about something I enjoy discussing with fans who have quite a bit of insight and healthy imagination. You all fascinate me LOL.

Well, I’m biased for Newton in this one! He was authoratative, menacing, fearless, brave, cold-hearted…all the things I love in a character!!

Anna Torv performs much better as Olive thinking she’s Altliv than Altliv pretending to be Olive. May be why I prefer Over There so much. Plus Newton killed this episode…and then proceeded to kill himself! :(

In fact, it is. I just wanted to drag a line between actors and characters they portray.I still believe polls are made by people’s opinions, and opinions may differ from one to another, its’ inside their definition and nature. Including personal opinion on actors, I presume. During summer, I expressed my personal disappointment for some of the comments Jackson did . Sorry about that, maybe it was the tone he used rather than the words, but I really didn’t like them in the first place. Still, I’m intrigued by Peter and I’m sure this character has a lot to tell to the story. It’s pretty much like Roco’s comments about Walter, many of which I don’t agree with. Still, I love his reviews.
