It’s a shame that even in an episode without our Olivia, I still didn’t feel that Walter or Peter were deserving of my vote. I went with Newton.

    HOMELESS MAN FTW

haha..i just realized.. i remember posting a while ago how i felt the writers always use people who seem like upper middle-class as fringey victims.. and demanded hobo deaths. this would be the second glorious hobo death. thanks writers for listening, clearly

I am so totally sold on Anna Torv’s portrayal of Altlivia that I just had to vote for her despite my utter dislike for the woman at this point in the show. It is amazing how one woman can play two parts so well!!

I’m with you. I think everyone should remember that we’re voting for the BEST CHARACTER PERFORMANCE–not which character we like the best. I think in both episodes Anna Torv turned in an off-the-chart incredible performance. I know that I’m doing a flip from last yearng, but last year was just frustration and a bit of misunderstanding about what Torv was actually trying to do. Personally, I’m seeing everything from her that I knew she could do. Right now I’m tuning in to dig on the subtlety of her performances. Go Anna Torv!

This all said, I’m a little confused about what the show runners have been saying vs. what I’m seeing and feeling about the respective universes. They don’t want us to have feelings of “good” or “bad” about either universe (in a nutshell). I’m not sure how they expect us to embrace the “other side” when the other side is over here executing homeless people, and planting sonic bombs in subways (not to mention brainwashing our poor Olivia). Walternate has yet to show me any redeeming qualities (with an attitude of ‘hey–if the memory transplant kills her then that’s just the way it goes.’)

Well, I know what color I like the best. I’m a blue man. Period. (Beside, in a story like this, you gotta have a villan. I think we have one–the other side.) I think we should start printing tee shirts or something…

Yes, some of the writing has been a little confusing based on what they were saying all summer, but AT’s performances have been incredible. I was always a fan of her’s, but she’s just taking it to a new level.

ITA – It’s Team Blue all the way. The comments from TBTP on Fringe remind me very much of the way people involved with LOST would poist that maybe the Others and Ben Linus were actually the good guys, and the Losties were in the wrong. And in the previews after “The Box” Walternate appears to say that if the brainwashing doesn’t work, OurLivia is a disposable assest.

Sorry but i don’t think that BEST CHARACTER PERFORMANCE means the best actor performance actually..i think is more on the line: what character (not actor) did the best performance in the episode and so in this case is Peter for me ;)

I was torn in this one between Peter and Altlivia and I think no matter how you look at it, voting for the actors or the characters, both were great this episode. While I agree Anna Torv has been off the charts amazing so far, and I expect she’ll remain that way for the entire season, I went with Peter this time just because it was nice to see him getting into the action in a bigger way. And personally his talk with Altlivia about his “fate” and turning out like Walter was one of the big highlights of this episode for me.

As for the comments about how the show has been going compared to how we were told the universes were going to play out, I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. I’m not getting the whole, “which side to choose” feeling. I don’t think committing cold blooded murder (be it in a time of war or not) is really the best way to get fans to question their loyalty. That said I have faith in these guys and the show and I’m sure it’ll eventually pan out they way they intended…I hope so anyways.

I went with Walter. I loved Anna’s performance but Altlivia as a character isn’t very likeable to me, and I felt Walter really shone in this episode. (More so than Peter.)

Was torn between Peter and Altlivia but went for Altliv simply for the way she dominated Newton. Nice!

Ah, Walter’s heart-to-heart scene with Peter was Emmy-worthy. Brought a tear to my eye, it did.

Deaf Cousin Joe did the right thing. He brought the box in to the police. At least he tried to. Fringie of the week!

Peter saved the day, but he loses points for not noticing that Altlivia is very different from Olivia. Same with Walter and Astrid.

I’ll be able to look at Newton and Altlivia more subjectively when they justify killing those random civilians. For now, they’re the villains.
