Well that got me excited. I’ve been not *quite* as excited about Season 5 as I have about other seasons premieres, mainly because it felt like the overarching narrative of Fringe kind of got misguided a bit in Season 4 (even though I really liked a lot of episodes, Peter’s disappearance and the “new timeline” never came together in a satisfactory way, IMHO).
But that new footage definitely got my blood going. I think it’s gonna be a great final season. Walter getting tortured already had me cringing, that is gonna be tough to watch.

That was brilliant. Completely and utterly brilliant. I cannot wait any longer (even if it is only four more days), I need Fringe. It looks like total awesomeness and while some effects were a bit cringe-worthy or fringe-worthy (see what I did there) I don’t think its going to affect the quality of the awesomeness that is going on.

I just thought some of the scenes where there were huge amber “formations” and when the observers were apearring in front of Olivia, Peter, and Etta didn’t look that great. They’re not awful by any means and they’re really not worse than anything from last season, but when compared to things from maybe season 2 or 3 they’re not as good. It’s okay though as I’m just glad Fringe is still on and they’re getting a chance to finish the story in a good way. I can’t wait.

Good Lord . . . that is something. This season is going to be fantastic, but then the show has been fantastic from the beginning. Fringe is going to go down in the annals as one of the best Science Fiction shows of all time.
I cannot stand the Walter being tortured part.

My theory is that the Observer future is completely dependent on certain things happening correctly in time. Like, there’s a certain moment in time that basically created the Observer future (and the scientific community, September and them, are supposed to ensure that this moment is never harmed). However, because of September’s actions in 1985, the moment was in danger of being harmed, so September had to do a lot of things to correct it (such as making the amber timeline).
I think that Walter’s idea, which includes the missing part of the Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11, is a time machine that would allow the Fringe team to go back in time and ruin the moment that caused the Observers to be made. I think (or at least I hope) that the moment they need to alter is something in 1985, where Walter will go back in time and confront Walternate and September just as September distracts him in the lab. That would bring everything full circle and really give perspective on everything that’s happened since Walter decided to kidnap Peter and start all this.
