Although that Olivia’s death really makes my heart skip a beat, I need to go with Lincolnate!
Olivia in the end have her Cortexiphan powers (and thank God that she have)and thanks to Walter, was able to make it back…
Lincolnate not.
So, yeah, his death was very very sad! I really liked him!

I agree. As much as I hated Lincoln, I loved Alt Lincoln that much more. His death was sad on two levels, on one hand he was such a cool character that to see him go was very sad, and on the other hand it was sad to see my favorite show Fringe make this bad of a decision regarding a character death. I really believe they killed the wrong Lincoln. Tell me it would not have been better to have our Lincoln die over there while trying to save the universes. It would have made him a much more likable character to me. sadly they made him into a guy who couldn’t get the girl so he ran away for her second best. What is even sadder is that they thought we as an audience would be happy with our Lincoln replace over there Lincoln. Way too contrived if you ask me.

Forgot to add: Olivia’s death didn’t have the sadness behind it for me due mainly to the fact that I knew she wouldn’t stay dead. Now if she were to die next season then that would be a whole different story. Or had we not known of the renewal, then her momentary death would have carried much more weight.

Totally agree.
As much as I love Olivia and I had a mini heart attack when Olivia got shot, I have to go to Lincolnate!
The impact it had on Altliv makes me even sadder.
So yeah, Lincolnate.

Good point. Lincolnate was a good man, and a good friend to AltLiv. He’ll be missed even if we don’t see the alt universe again.

Every death is sad, wheter is the death of your friend or your enemy. At least one person always cries over another person’s death.
Birth is the ultimate begining.
Death is the ultimate end.
That is the natural order of things. Everything that has been born will eventualy dye. Ergo the universe, that has begun with the big bang, that was the first “birth” will dye too.

Wau, I sound like some enlightened Zen master!

I didn’t find any of the deaths sad.

Olivia’s death happened about ten minutes before the end, a clear fake-out. I didn’t believe it for one second and it was something they had already done in S3. The only reaction it got from me was an eyeroll, while thinking “Why are they pulling this stuff again?”

AltLincoln’s death wasn’t sad, it was simply pathetic. He was shot off-screen and died off-screen. Fauxlivia’s lukewarm reaction didn’t help selling the tragedy. The tragedy was the reason why they killed him off, although I admit I find it more disgusting and creepy than tragic.

DRJ’s death was kind of pathetic too. I just felt irritated and embarrassed by the way he was killed. He was a better villain in S1.

Although I suggested Gus for the poll, I can’t vote for that, it was a joke :P

She died on the inside, which is often sadder than a physical death.

well, yes it’s sad but I wouldn’t really say that it is sometimes sadder than a physical death…

Well yes, Raymond has to live the rest of his life with her, with her constantly forgetting who he (and she) is. That’s tragic.

I would, personaly, prefer to dye physicly, than live like a vegetable.
Mind is what I value the most. I don’t think I could live if I lost it.

Exactly. Kate’s ‘death’ is far more sad than Olivia’s and a fungus.

@ Cortexiphan Kid
I comletely agree with you, I would rather be dead than living like a vegetable…

but I am also looking at this from raymond’s perspective.
sure, she is not the woman he knew but at least he can still be with “her” right?

I am not sure that he would be happier if she had died physically.

Cortexiphan Kid June 26, 2012 at 11:11 am

Yeah, but she doesn’t recognise him anymore. I mean, she is no longer a person he knew. She is just a shadow of what she use to be. An empty shell.
Maybe Raymond would not be happier, but maybe Kate would be. Maybe she would rather die, than to be remembered this way.
Raymond is living with a memory, with what use to be. He is holding on what was Kate before the Alcheimer.
Of course there is always the bright side (the one you see, Surun Tunne). There is still a conection between Kate and Raymond, but it has faded.

So, could I live like Raymond or Kate? No. Could other people live that way? I’m sure some people could, and I’m sure some people do.

Trust me; you are all 100% correct. I work where there is an Alzheimer’s section and I now know that if I could choose, personally I would choose having my mind until the end of my life. I would rather be in a wheelchair and be able to converse with family and know what was going on around me, read, watch TV.

That Fringe episode gave an accurate depiction of how it is, from the perspective of both sides; in my opinion it is sadder for the loved ones, that is why the disease is called “the long goodbye.” :-(

Having Gus the Fungus on the list does not make this a serious question for me; therefore, I am not going to vote. I realize it is all in fun, but come on. . .

-Olivia did not die.
-Lincolnate – did he really die?
-Gus the Fungus – ridiculous.
-DRJ – why would this be a sad death?

I’m with the others. Olivia didn’t die.

So, I’ll go with Lincolnate. He’s really the only choice here.

olivia did die…but she came back.

and the whole scene where walter and peter tried so save her was heartbreaking.

so I voted for olivia

Look, I love Olivia. But I hate it, absolutely hate it, when writers kill off a character then instantly bring them back. It’s a terrible writing technique.

So instead of being sad, I was annoyed. Plus, “Letters of Transit” killed all suspense.

I agree with Jamie. I thought when Altlivia went through Lincolnate’s locker looking at his old things/photos it was one of the most poignant moments of the show.

Voted for Lincolnate, ultimately.

Sucks that the writers killed him off just to get Lincoln with SOME form of Olivia. Don’t try and argue otherwise, you know it’s the truth.

I know these polls are supposed to be fun but I think there comes a point when it is enough already. Danzig’s death is more heart felt and that is one thing I liked about Lincoln is the loss of friend/partner, the girl from forced perspective, the alternate chap in one night in October when he committed suicide after realising what he had done and the chap in making angels were all more worthy and should have been on the list.

Agreed, especially as Olivia isn’t dead, so she shouldn’t even be on this list, maybe on list of “resurrection” lol but this talks about how pointless are these polls. And yes, if I could choose, I would pick death of that girl on Forced Perspective. That was sad.

Olivia’s death would have been sad, if it would last. But it didn’t. And honestly, it’s hard to feel sorry for a character that died for 3 minutes and 40 seconds.

I have to say Lincolnate, because a) he had a real funeral and b) because, again, I was the only person that nominated him.

Do you think he was in the coffin or was it a pile of rocks? This happens quite often on other shows. We did not see him take his last breath, he was carried off alive and in the Altverse they seem to have better medical care. After all look what happened to AltLincoln when he was burned to a crisp and returned to his old self. Just saying . . . . .
