It’s amazing what the right musical composition can do for a scene. You can truly recognise its power when an otherwise awesome moment doesn’t carry the same weight without the score -- to see what I mean, try watching your favorite moment without the sound, or listening to the music without the scene. One of my faves from Fringe this season? The haunting piece that accompanied Olivia’s dream in Jacksonville -- A-mazing.
Thanks to Ocean5oul for the heads-up. We’ll post more news on the soundtrack when we get it.
Oh, by the way. If you’re in need of some Giacchino and you can’t wait until March 23rd for the Fringe OST, here’s one of his classic pieces from Lost to tide you over:

Eee I have been waiting for this news since forever! I am a bit of a music geek and have loved the score of Fringe (although I imagine this disc will be for season 1 only a la the Lost OSTs?). I’m glad I get to add it to the collection anyways – thanks for posting!
Good news! I hope they’ll include some of Walter’s favorite jazz/blues numbers as well as the incidental music.
Nice! Michael Giacchino also composed the really great, beautiful music in “Up”.
But J. J. Abrams made the theme song himself, right?
Michael Giacchino just won a BAFTA for Up, I’m sure that’ll spark some interest from people in this soundtrack too!
This is great news! I wasn’t expecting this announcement this soon — I thought it would be more towards the end of the season and would be released over the summer. So I’m thrilled!
I do hope, however, that it includes music from this season because, in my opinion, the music from this season is so much better than season 1. It has a nicer quality, it stands out, and it’s memorable. I love the music they’ve used in moments like at the end of A New Day and What Lies Below, as well as the music Roco mentioned from Olivia’s Cortexiphan dream. So I’m crossing my fingers that those are included in this CD!
And Roco, I completely agree with what you said about how music will enhance a scene — it makes such a difference and adds greater meaning and depth to a scene to have the right kind of music!
how dare you post a lost vid on the fringe bloggers.
death to the dictator!
Aw. That expression is so adorable.
Haha, they could easily persuade me to get it just for that expression. XD; I have no shame. >>; I’m hoping for the price tag on it, it’ll have a bunch of songs.
Even so, if there’s an extended version of the theme, I’ll be completely happy (Or if there’s themes for certain characters, I’d be one happy camper). ^^;
One more thing to look out for. Reckon it’ll be at a chain-store or something? I’d rather not buy it online, but I’ll buy it if that’s the only way possible.
It just occurred to me–this could be another positive sign for the show’s renewal, as I question whether they’d bother releasing a soundtrack for a show that was about to be cancelled.
Doubtful. They released the Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles soundtrack during its second season, and FOX hit the ol’ cancel button on that show. I understand why the show was cancelled (even if I didn’t agree with it), but given what Fringe has going for it, FOX would be stupid to cancel.
Looking forward to soundtrack!
