Leonard Nimoy has revealed that ‘conversations’ about a possible fifth season return for his character should take place before too long. Head past the jump for more.
Nimoy said:
“I’m sure we will be having conversations about that before too long. I haven’t heard anything new about William Bell or the show, except that it has been picked up for 13 episodes, which I think is wonderful. I know the company was hoping for that so they could have another season to close it out successfully. I haven’t herd anything about Bell coming back, but I’m sure I’ll be getting a call. We’ll talk about it. It will depend on my schedule. It will depend on what they have in mind for the character. There are a lot of issues to be dealt with, but we’ll be talking.”

I love Leonard Nimoy and I hope he does come back in Season 5. If not, we know his hand will be back. Can’t wait to see what that is all about.

Well the writers left the door open by having him just shimmer out rather than just disappear altogether.
Remembered Leonard as Spock in Star Trek all those years ago, he was terrific then and he is just as terrific as William Bell now.
Just goes to prove that time hasn’t diminished the acting ability no matter how old you are.
Great work Leonard hope to see you in season five somewhere over the rainbow.

He shimmered out the same way Peter shimmered when Liv first noticed he was from the other side. And when she was scared in 6B. I wonder if that’s relevant or if they just used the same effect anyway…

That’s true. Unlike at the end of S2, this time there was no pretense that he was dying.
Actually the more I think about it the more sense it makes. I want to find out what he did before he got ambered.

Yes to William Bell in season 5.
I do not think his story is over at all. I still think there is more to him then meets the eye. I believe he knows way more about the future, and the timeline shift then we think.
I for one hope we get some answers regarding Bell next season.

I think you are right. I am going to do my rewatch here in a few, but I remember there was something he said right before he rang the bell that made me think he at least knew about the original timeline.
I would love to see him back too, but I hope they can work out his schedule and return before they start production. I think the episodes will be stronger if they know if/when they have him. I’m guessing the reason the end of the season felt a bit forced was because they didn’t know he would be coming back until it was too late to do a more proper lead up to his return.

So I rewatched last night and after Walter shoots Liv, Bell says something about Walter not learning from the past, etc. It made me think of Walternate killing Liv in the S3 finale, although there’s no way Walter could have known about that. So maybe he was just referring to something else, but I can’t be sure. Now I feel like I need to go ALL the way back, especially to the 1st and 2nd seasons and try to figure out what’s up. Anyone got any thoughts?

My first initial thought when Bell said Walter learned from the past was that he was referring to Walter taking Peter from the other side back in 1985, which resulted in the first breach of the fabric of the universe. Just like 1985, Walter once again paid a big price in that he had to kill Olivia to stop Bell’s plan.

I think that what William Bell is saying is that finally Walter have learned the lesson, but the price to pay is very high. At this time, Walter chose the common welfare and not just the well being or the survival of a person that he loves above everyone else. But when you choose something like this, the price can be unbearable, as lose someone that you truly do love.
You need courage, selflessness and to sacrifice your feelings and needs. So this time Walter was very brave and Belly recognizes that.

For me when Bell tell Walter that he learned from the past, was about the fact to do something for a greater good and not for your own good.
But in my opinion Bell knows much more thatn he appears, that trick for paralyze the Observer, the weapon … is everything to strange.Bell is not reliable, at all …

How awesome is it that someone like Leonard Nimoy, who could very very easily just decline any and all invitations to pariticpate on a tv show/movie, no matter how much money there is involved, accepts to contribute to the brilliance of a story as the one told on Fringe? That´s just mesmerizing. It also must be terribly humbling for the show´s runners, to have such an iconic figure amongst the ranks of the show.

Agreed. He is very choosy. That he keeps coming back is an awesome testament to the quality of the show.

Well said. And even after Fringe is over, this show was the show that Leonard decided to join out of many many shows/movies….

I loved crazy Bell in the finale. Would love to see/know where or when he’s gone to and what he will be up to.
I’m sure we haven’t seen the worst side of him yet.

Having Leonard Nimoy back for the S4 finale was a good thing, because I’d fully expected that we might never see him again. At least he’s changed his mind somewhere along the way.
Still, I’ve never been fully convinced by his portrayal of William Bell, and often I would find myself wondering what could be achieved with an actor who could make himself more available and more devoted to the role. That’s the main issue for me – his “pickiness” had made it very difficult to plan ahead (and still does), and I for one believe that the show suffered for it at times.

In my mind they even wrote William Bell around Leonard Nimoy.
So no one could have portraied Bell better than mr. Nimoy.
And he does it damn well.

Maybe his full head of hair is the result of the cortexiphan, instead of the side-effect of losing ones hair.
