Joshua Jackson talks to SFX about the final season of Fringe.
“I think it’s such a rare gift to be given what I consider to be a grace note at the end of a TV show. Most TV shows end in bloody, awful ways with bitterness and acrimony on all sides. I watched Firefly and I was not stoked when it was all of a sudden cancelled. So for us to have the opportunity knowing, going into the last year, that we have 13 episodes to go out and tell a really concise story that challenges everybody in the right way. [Showrunner] JH Wyman has the opportunity to go finish his story and finish his characters and leave off exactly where he wants to go.”

I resonate with Josh, I’m in the middle of re-watching Firefly (for the umpteenth time). Awesome series. Amazing characterization.
There’s not a character who doesn’t get fleshed out, there was no Lincoln Lee in Firefly. It gets even better when you re-watch it, very rare indeed.
When I think about the injustice of its cancellation, I’m filled with impotent outrage -them as formed the TV networks should be taken out to the black.

That was a nice statement Joshua made and so true.
Gee, I miss Lincoln Lee, Lincoln Lee, Lincoln Lee, Lincoln Lee
And I miss AltLinc, AltLinc, AltLinc, AltLinc, AltLinc, AltLinc

I missed alt linc but I think our charlies character added more depth to the show. I dont understand why he got 86x but I miss him and his support to Olivia in s1 and s2.
I think Charlie could of been developed more and not taken out by a Shapeshifter on our side. But it is what is.
I even liked agent jesseph but when s2 came around I thought she was replacing Olivia which just could not happen. After seeing how it played out I understand there wasn’t more room for another lead agent.
Hot debate. What do you think?

I think Lincoln Lee and baby Henry are both most hated characters of fringe

You cant hate a baby, he’s done nothing wrong.
And he doesnt even excist anymore.

Correct.
You don’t hate babies, but you can definately hate those who created it

I don’t hate Lincoln Lee (and definitely not the baby), but the frustration is with the creative team for inserting him into the story. His character was never developed. There was no compelling reason and proper motivation established for the character to make him interesting or needed. As it stands, Lincoln was a miserable fill-in for Peter and once Peter returned, I think it became obvious that the writers didn’t know what to do with him. I would say that my biggest gripe is the lack of a proper telling of the ‘where is Peter’ story. I didn’t need a detailed explanation for where he was–I didn’t have the problem with his return being about love. I’d just liked to have seen him and the other Fringe team reconnect in a more organic fashion. With that said, I enjoyed the majority of season 4 and as a Peter/Olivia shipper, it’s one of the best seasons in terms of their relationship. I guess you can’t have it all.
With all of that said, it’s not a matter of ‘hating’ Lincoln Lee, it’s a matter of inserting a character who really had no purpose. Just sayin . . . Nothing against Gable, he was fantastic as AlLincoln — I’d rather have seen more of him than our Lincoln.

+1000 Its kinda of a shame and season 4 was very back and fourth when Peter returned. One minute he knows the timeline was changed and then he feels like he has to get to his old corrupted timeline. He tells Lincoln that September told how he has to get back to his Olivia and his timeline which wasn’t what he said. He just said go home and pretty much explained away what happened on the observer deck but, the writers just kept drawing the whole shes my Olivia shes not my Olivia out.
To bad charlie couldn’t of come back into play in s4. it would of made some more sense then trying to throw a new character into the Fringe team who pretty much doesn’t feel welcome with Peter returned towards the end. I seriously dont think the writers had any strong direction in season 4 until the latter half.
They should of showed Peters travel with the machine while the new timeline was corrected or introduced or inserted him into the season earlier. The Love saga really gets old between P/O when they just cant ever seem to get a break be together and move on with more fringe events. Their love story has been tragically drawn out for nearly 2 years.
