I want the boy to end up being September, but something is niggling me. Why didn’t the boy age in 20 years? I hope that will be explained, and if he didn’t age then will he ever age? If he doesn’t age how can he be September?

I think he already has tech implanted in his brain. I think the tech makes entropy slow down so that the Observers don’t seem to age. Perhaps Observers are a type of futuristic military of sorts. Certain individuals are chosen to eventually become one. I think there is a sort of picking process (maybe being a loyalist is part of it), and perhaps certain guidelines to becoming one. It could also be a forced enlistment too; Like individuals are picked then abducted, and implanted, then sent to a training facility. Some are scientists, some are soldiers, some are officers, etc…

Anyway I think that children being implanted is not the norm. so there is something to that for sure. Like I said I hope Michael is September as a child, but the more I think on it the less I feel it will be as such. So I’m holding out that there will at least be some kind of connection to September and Michael. The ending of “The Inner Child” begs for that connection to be so.

Any thoughts on this subject would be welcome.

Nice ideas! I don’t mean to nay-say them, and it has been awhile since I saw “Inner Child”, but I am sure near the end they said what sounded like this child Observer was NOT the only one. It was very quick. I think we could use answering about this now. What happened to the other child Observers? Why was this one (all of them?) placed in a closed space for so long with seemingly no chance for escape yet they were found.
The one we follow in Inner Child to this show was perhaps going to be blown up. Because it was like a basement, we do not know how the explosives would have affected him. We also do not know if he has tech or Observer connections that would have saved him. Yet somehow he was able to “call out” to that one construction worker to save him. Just as he was able to connect with Olivia.

There is a lot to this child Observer. And it’s a shame we have had to wait through 4 more seasons and still not really get anything more on them … yet.

As of said, Black Blotter is every right and everything “wrong” about Fringe. For the diehards, like “us”, we get all the little underlying stories as well as the big plots. Not to mentioned the call backs. However, this is the type of episode that confuses the mainstream watcher so they watch no more.

Heck, I study this show and when I first watched this episode, I graded it a 6 primarily because I was eating dinner at the same time and wasnt’ paying attention (like 95% of viewer do BTW). Upon rewatch (2x more that night), I realize how brilliant it was. Reminds me most of Brown Betty.

I’ve been reading/watching old interviews with JJ Abrams and the creative team. Although I don’t mind the heavy mythology, they never intended this show to be this heavy (like Lost) into the serial storytelling.

And lastly, could listen to Josh and John talk about this show mythology/character development all day long. They seem to be able to explain it and follow it closely.

Thankfully, the show didn’t stay MOTW. Serialized shows with heavy mythology like Lost, Xfiles and Fringe are much more memorable than your CBS case of the week dime a dozen shows.

I totally agree ML, I LOVE these shows. But we can’t keep the viewership. Hopefully the new ways to track rating/views will help future mythology based shows. This was a very special show tho. Could got 10 season with Fringe and not get bored. Really hoping that if we don’t get answers to the backstory of 2012-2015 and even some of Etta growing up that Wyman pens some short stories. Maybe we will see it.

I choose to look at it this way. The longer Fringe would have gone on the higher chances of it getting worse. Look at what happen to Xfiles and most shows that go over 6 seasons.
I wish Fringe had gotten one more season but more than that and who knows what would have happen.
Though who knows. Fringe mythology is so rich. There is so much more we could have seen :(

This is a real conundrum.
A child who does not age.
Immaculate conception ? Savior ?
What does The Vatican think ?

The ‘Torn’ clip reminds me of a song by the Pixies: ‘Where Is My Mind?’.
Maybe some hints in there?
