Fringe In Real Life – The God Particle

One of the great and unique things about Fringe is that it deals with science largely ahead of our time. I think this is one of the reasons why it has intrigued so many people, even those who pass it off as pseudo science guff. We all want to know what is next -- it’s the very thing which drives the Internet..and the imagination. As we head into season 2, one of the things I’m wondering is:

How will Fringe continue to remain relevant?

Perhaps the most important method is for the show to continue blurring the lines by incorporating real-life events and break-throughs. In this series of posts we’ll take a brief look at what real world upcoming events Fringe could find room for in its own source material. First up, is the Large Hadron Collider.:

A.L.I.C.E.

WHAT?: Large Hadron Collider at CERN -- physicists expect to re-create the conditions that were present moments after the big bang in order to understand how the universe works.

WHEN?: Late 2009

WHERE? Underground -- Franco-Swiss border

BUZZ WORDS: “God Particle

POSSIBILITIES: -- The event could unlock a wealth of information on particle mass, matter/anti-matter, dark matter and could even create a black hole. Sound exciting? Nah, but with Fringe dabbling with multiple realities it’s worth bearing in mind that the collider could bring us a step further to proving their existence.

MOVIE RELATION -- “Angels & Demons”:

Whether the LHC unlocks the key to the origins of the universe or even new universes that we haven’t seen before, it’s sure to have a bearing on some of the ideas swimming through the minds of the Fringe writers. Heck, the “God Particle” might already be a part of the Fringe DNA..

Great, I’m going to visit CERN next month…I mean infiltrate it for ZFT, of course. :)
Good idea, keep posting.
