Very cool promo. Love it! Not sure what I can deduce from it though. It’s supposed to be a teaser for 503.

I’m wondering if we’ll see some more flashbacks since Olivia has a baby in her arms ;) wishful thinking probably!

Those tree people in 503 are supposed to be obsessed with recording human history. So maybe we’ll find out what the team was doing before Etta was taken and I also hope we get more flashbacks. I want to see all the stuff from this promo in actual form!

I’m thinking this might be pre-2036. Maybe it’s the purge in 2015 .. . Interesting teaser . . . I like it a lot.

It looks like Walter is trippin’/altered state before he ambers himself.
That is a grape vine that he is munching on, right.

Yeah, and it also look like she’s surrounded by dead Badservers in 0.03.

Some of the Baldies seem to wear a gas mask or something, just like in those images hidden in some of the previous teasers. I guess the air is just too oxygen rich for them :)

Very cool tease. Makes me want a reprise of 3.19 in 2036 but like this, done in reverse imaging.

or like one where they find one of the few remaining cannabis plants on earth (wonder what a stoned observer looks like….hmmm) and then like walter hittin the bong in 219 brown betty, they all sit down in their rebel apartment place like the circle in that 70s show and smoke a fatty at the beginning, then we get an episode animated like yellow submarine with beatles voices lol

I’m trying to figure out what I’m missing but it doesn’t seem to make sense that Olivia is holding a baby while fighting off Observers, unless the baby isn’t Etta, because she was 3 when they came.

I know The Purge took place in 2015 but do we know for sure if the park was their first official attack? I’m unclear on that :s I imagine the Observers got to work just as September warned Walter and Fringe Division had to fight off small waves every now and then as they were working on the plan. But then that doesn’t explain why Peter and Olivia were relaxing if they knew the Observers were yet to officially invade. So confusing!

I seriously want an entire episode set in 2015 showing us exactly what happened right until they ambered themselves.

I’d like to know too. The team had to be doing something between the time Etta was taken and saving the world (or not?) from William Bell. Hopefully we get an episode dedicated to what exactly this was.

Here’s an idea:

September and Walter worked together to figure out a plan to rid the world of the Observer’s coming invasion. So what we see in this “teaser” is a pre-purge period, before the widespread invasion/purge but AFTER Walter and September go over their plan in detail. Thus, everyone is fighting a group of Observers, with baby Etta in arms.

The original science team never wore gas masks, because they had been acclimated to our atmosphere. And remember that Walter said what happened to September was “unexpected”. So I might surmise that Observers went back in time to fix the “September/Walter/Fringe team” problem, and that these Observers were NOT acclimated as the science team wore, hence the gas masks and the “unexpectedness” of everything.

If you look at some of the teaser screencaps, it looks to me like Walter has something on his hand which sends out a shock, or a force field, that either protects him from the Observers or defeats them via bodily harm, or both. Since this teaser is specific to episode 503 (per Ari Margolis’s words), and we meet these forest people and such, I’m wondering if this technology Walter is using on his hand is somehow linked to them: either it got passed down to them, they found it, or they were also integral in it’s design, via September’s instruction. I also wonder if this will somehow lead into the “stasis runes” and that tech as well, and why William Bell was present at the ambering (since he is linked directly to the stasis rune tech). For all we know, it wasn’t just September’s knowledge that helped Walter, but perhaps it was also September investigating the stasis rune tech that seemed to confuse him, which lead him back to Bell.

About the stasis runes: you guys are aware of the fact that they are just Observer symbol for number 5 right? :)

I saw that connection with the guy who tried to figure out the “Observer writing translations” online or whatever. It doesn’t explain how the tech *works* though … that tech effectively trapped an Observer to a specific location, and when September saw the tech, he was confused as to how Bell’s henchman knew of it.

When I look again at the teaser pics of Walter’s hand, it looks like he’s got a gauntlet on or something, which doesn’t make the Observers (who are NOT wearing gas masks in the teaser) happy. It also looks like it defeats them as a weapon would.

That sort of explains the, “If the Observers know all possible futures, why didn’t they just go back in time and kill the Fringe team?” question. Although I don’t get why they wouldn’t go back even further, like Terminator style and wipe out Olivia before she was born or something. I hope they answer this over the course of the season.

Well, I think the answer to that one is a bit more “simple”, for the lack of a better term:

The Observers only know all possible futures for the causality they are a part of, or are able to observe directly. They don’t know the futures for other causalities (naturally), nor for those which are “new” and thus not observable. Mainly, the causality that Peter sparked in Season 4 when he finally made a different choice in the Machine … that causality is one that catches them off guard constantly, and seems to be overtaking their own. I think it’s “part” of a “new timeline”.

I think it’s a bit confusing in Fringe, because it’s counterintuitive to consider multiple causalities interacting with each other and still not being just “one continuous causality”. But if you think of it in terms of separate “timelines” taking place in the same stage: the Observers are one causality, the rest of the universe(s) are another perhaps, and then Peter-Machine sparked yet another, and they are all twisting and winding around each other — it makes more sense.

I think lol :-)

Ok, I know this is going to sound a bit stupid, but what do you think happened to Bell’s flying porcupine people?
Or the Cortexiphan kids? Will we see Nick Lane and others again? Will we even hear about cortexiphan this season (probably yes, if you ask me)?
And the Shapeshifters? There were 47 of them, and yeah, some of them died (or whatever), but some of them must still be around.
Not to mention the Redverse! Will we see them again (probably not, if you ask me)?

I saw an interview where it was stated we will not see the Altverse again and didn’t Anna say that as well? She said she loved playing Faulivia, and was sad she was not going to be able to play that part one more time. But remember with Fringe they would always say one thing and then do another. We can only hope. :-)

I think we need a flashback episode from 2012 to 2015 to really understand all of this.
