Shidey17 – I don’t think you are being silly at all. If Touch brings in some high numbers, people may stick around to watch Fringe. We want Fringe to complete the 13 episodes and any strategy is helpful.
Unfortunately this brings us back to the antiquated, unfair ratings process. No matter what I watch I am not counted. *sigh*

A dash of Friday Death might actually do Touch some good. If its got the followers it will survive I mean Fringe beat the odds so hey it could happen…

It depemds on what the network expects. It also depends on whether it has the same kind of loyal core audience as Fringe. We’ll find out.

I guess that means that we will get all thirteen episodes before the end of the year if Hell’s Kitchen returns mid season. I am very happy with that, because the last thing we need is for FOX to spread 13 episodes in the span of a year.

Touch had been on the bubble for renewal. So, not surprising that they placed it on Friday nights as the lead-in. It would have been great for FOX to have put Fringe on a better night as a great send-off, since they would need to replace it anyway and probably have some “second season” shows ready as mid-season replacements for whatever new shows fail. But, I am glad we have a season 5 anyway, so…

I know ‘Fall’ means Autumn in Americatown but why do some shows have (fall) written beside them and some not? Won’t they all come back in September-ish?

Some started mid-season so they will still continue to air into the early summer season.

Maybe I am way off track, but did you see the write-ups of some of the new shows on FOX? I am sorry but to me they sound terrible, nothing I would be interested in watching. Call me crazy but I think FOX should have stuck with Finder and Alcatraz for one more year and Fringe (for a full season). FOX is going to have a lot of competition from other shows that networks may dish up, in particular that new show Revolution, which is on NBC I believe.

At this time FOX has an established fan base (worldwide for Fringe) of the three shows I mentioned and they are taking chances on shows that in my opinion the premise of each sound so bad. My one complaint about FOX is they give up too easily.

That old saying, “be careful what you wish for” could apply. FOX could be in for a rude awakening when Fringe is gone and the replacement show tanks.

Nothing will compare to Fringe and most likely will not for a while. When I watch other shows all I can think of: boring!
Once Fringe is gone, I’ll watch the local news on FOX and that’s it.

I did and I will check it out because of things similar to Fringe that I saw in the trailer, cast, typewriter and I’m sure it’s full of clues.
But again, I will most likely compare everything to Fringe.

So Kitchen Nightmares got the boot? Lets cheer about * that* :)

FOX has three returning dramas next year

Bones, who’s struggling on mondays (2.0)
Touch, whos last rating on thursday was 1.9
Fringe, whos ratings are crap but steady

This is probably Bones last year, creatively, it has run its course, Touch wont see a third season at this rate, so the final season of Fringe means that their new shows absolutely have to take off, otherwise there would be absolutely nothing left on their schedule with some kind of fanbase/following. Glee is not the powerhouse it used to be and look for it to be eaten alive on thursdays.

Which is why replacing Fringe with *sigh* Hell’s kitchen will probably end up being a mistake. It has a few years of storytelling left, media attention, critical praises, I mean, yes, the ratings are crap, but i’m guessing the loads of money AI and XF bring in should help with that and Fox would have at least one veteran acclaimed show still on the air.

Next year will be *very* interesting…

Note to FOX: “You get what you pay for.”

Hells Kitchen? Good God – let me see, people fighting, competing over food, yelling, swearing, backstabbing, racing to finish OR a clever, well acted science fiction show about a group of people who are interesting, funny at times, we have grown to care about, and they help each other to solve problems? Hummm, not a hard choice, for me anyway.

I will not be wasting my time watching Hell’s Kitchen.

lafra08 – Your ideas are very good.
Unfortunately I believe the only thing that could save Fringe before the end of the 13 episodes would be if they received stratosphere ratings. Sadly I don’t think that is going to happen, AGAIN, due to the incompetent way they collect the numbers for the ratings. But on the other hand, sometimes unexpected things happen.

On a local radio talk show yesterday they were talking with a man from the Paley Center for Media regarding TV shows. A man called in saying his 83 year old mother just received her Nielsen Rating Notebook kit. The caller said he can’t believe this is how shows are rated. The Paley guy said the usual, “Well, it has been this way forever and until someone comes up with a better way.” Great, that helps a lot.

I was reading a different blog and the writer said she didn’t like 1 hour drama’s b/c they require too much effort on her part.

All I could think of is that she is exactly why we don’t have more quality shows like Fringe. Fringe has been more enjoyable for me to follow and watch every week, than any other program. I’d prefer to only watch one hour of good quality TV a week than 6 hours of horrible reality shows or awful comedies. But people don’t want to stretch their imagination or use thier minds. They’d rather sit there and be numb.

*steps off soapbox*

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 9

*Riotous applause, as Dac steps off soapbox*

What you wrote is 100% correct and that is called “dumbing down.” Oh, boo-hoo that poor woman having to think for a change. Those foolish, idiotic shows a chimp must write the dialogue.

It’s a sad situation and the proof is the rating numbers.

I will join in with the applause.

I detest reality shows and can’t stand comedies. The cop shows are all the same nothing really to differentiate one from the other. Can’t stand the backstabbing drama shows either. So I’m hoping that Revolution is good and can get and maintain an audience, but I’m not holding my breath since its on NBC and will be up against Castle and Hawaii 5-0. Otherwise I will not have a single broadcast network show to watch once Fringe ends.

I cant tell you how awsome all of you are, Fringe is the best show by far to hit T.V. since X-files. What we should do is what fans did for CHUCK! Target a paticualar sponsor and promise to purchase there product in support of the show. In Chuck the fans targated Subway. It got Chuck two extra seasons out of the show, because Subway paid for them. Thats how you save a show. Radical times call for radical mesures

Yes a very good point !the more I think about this the more sure I get that our awsome scifi show Fringe simply cannot end just like that possibly in december this year! I lost so many cult scifi shows f.ex: Stargate SG1,Stargate AtlantisEureka Sliders and I’m not ready to give up on the awsomeness of Fringe yet!it was intended to have a 6 years run so it should be so !because with only 13 episodes left it feels not right it is simply impossible to tell a story of 2 seasons within 13 Eps. I THINK we fans from all over the world should do something about the faith of our favourite show !we managed to get the 5th season so why don’t let a miracle happen again !? What do you think?

A while back on another site we were throwing the idea around to donate money so that the fans basically pay for the season. I think Chuck fans are doing that now to get a movie.
If the 3.5 mil (according to the offical Fringe facebook page) fans would each give $5-$10 we could at least pay for have a season.
Maybe I should start playing the lottery :)

If we are really lucky, other shows ratings will go down and Fringe will skyrocket!

I would feel bad for the other shows since so much work goes into them, but right now regarding TV all I care about is Fringe. We should put on our thinking caps and try to come up with ideas that would help to extend the show and would be easy for people to participate. We need to strike while the iron is hot; the show is still on the air, which works in our favor. *did I use enough metaphors?*
