I love that he is so thoughtful about the show in general and his character in particular. I think they did a good job of showing that aspect of Peter in S3, his ability to learn and keep on going forward, something I sometimes call his eternal optimism. When that overwhelming load of responsibility, the destiny of two universes, fell on his shoulders, he lived by his motto of “there has to be another way”, probably my favorite quote of the show.
Even in that bleak future, where everybody else was hopeless, he still was thinking about having kids and about a better future.
I think these character traits is what allowed him to save the universe, although that meant his sacrifice. He found another way.
Hot debate. What do you think?

I think what Fringe tought me, was that there are many roads (possibillities) to and end and no matter what road we travel, we always seem to get there, one way or another.
So yes, persistence is a great asset to have when fighting the odds.

I agree…
I think it doesn’t really matter what exactly you do, sooner or later you end up where you’re supposed to be..
but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to change things…

I can’t tell you how much I love this aspect of Peter’s personality. He never has gotten overwhelmed by the situation even though, at times, he responds to the situation badly in other ways. He is such an amazing pillar of strength for both Walter and Olivia which is why his absence was so pronounced in season 4.
I think that it’s cool that he is a constant in the show, both emotionally and literally.

There are so many negative portrayals in movies, TV and all sorts of media. It is so nice that Fringe is a show where the (good guys) win! Except for AltLincoln of course.
There is no doubt that Peter is a good guy. The rest of the characters played their parts perfectly, but Peter was the glue that kept them all together and on the right path throughout the whole series. I hope that this continues right up to the end of Fringe.

I am reluctant to say that Peter is the keystone of the series, but I think the first part of season 4 (and his interaction with Olivia and Walter after he returned) showed how incredibly important he and rest of The Big Three are to the show’s narrative. But Joshua Jackson’s points in this clip are well-taken.
Peter found out that he was brought Over Here (kidnapped) from Over There but did not give up on Walter. Yes, he came back for Olivia. But his bond with Walter was such that he never turned his back on him. Before stepping up to the BBM, the last person he looked back to see was Walter (the flashback sequences while he was climbing the stairs and before his hands were closed-in he was thinking of and looking directly at Olivia). In Season 4, he was most hurt by Walter’s refusal to even acknowledge his existence. But he did, as Joshua Jackson says, keep moving forward.
When Peter returned from the ether to Amber World, the first person he asked for was Olivia. He wanted that relationship as it was and was treated like a freakish stranger. (Although WTW gave us a pretty clear glimpse into what dreams Olivia was having.) Even though 4.15 showed what pretty much everyone suspected, he never gave up on HIS Olivia. And even before he knew this WAS his Olivia, he protected her. He saved her from the portal in TEOME. He looked out for her in WTW and ABHB. He kept “pressing on.”
