sadly yes but i think not in a cool way. it looks like some emo band’s tshirt/logo.
anyone else think the visuals for the observer future in this show are starting to get just a tiiiiiiiny tiny bit cheesy/hoaky and uncharacteristic of the show’s previous seasons, especially 1 and 2?

I’m a bit crestfallen that this T-shirt is being used to represent Fringe. I loved the premiere, but was taken back by the use of the term ‘gypsy,’ which many consider to be a slur. Of course this term wasn’t used to denigrate or even describe Romani people, but then why even use the term? Because it connotes thievery and unscrupulousness-reason enough it should not have been used as a term without presenting the angle that this casual racism is a negative facet of the future.
For a show that is so often inclusive and raises the bar for us to try to be better people, this was a misstep that can be overlooked. But perhaps we as fans should try to put the best face of Fringe forward.

This is further done when you say “I got gypped!” That actually comes from the word “gypsy” and assumes all Romanis are the same — that they will all con you. I detest stereotypes. I used this phrase for a long time (and I now have to be careful not to use it by habit) because I did not get the reference.

I see your point. Not that this excuses anything, but I think most people don’t know that the term is a slur. I know I didn’t for a long time; it wasn’t until I was in high school and someone used the phrase “I got gypped” and our French teacher explained to us the history of the term and its uses.
I am speaking from an American’s viewpoint — perhaps those of you who are European are indeed more familiar with the negative uses of the term. Anyway, my point being, hopefully your comment will enlighten some others who perhaps were saying something without understand its true meaning.
And while this particular shirt isn’t really my style, I followed the link over to TV Teez and they have some awesome Fringe stuff, including new stuff from Season 5.

I didn’t even know gypsy was meant to be a offensive word.
I mean there are tv shows like big fat gypsy wedding and (from the ten minutes of it i’ve seen) none of them really minded being on a show called big fat *gypsy* wedding.
I thought it was only offensive if you called them pikeys.

I have many tee shirts of that you can be sure,
I almost can’t close my closet door.
I would like to win this one however,
since TV shows don’t last forever.
Wearing this shirt would be so smart,
Fringe will forever be in my heart.
Pete, Walter, Olivia, and Etta . . . Astrid, Broyles
and Nina too . . . .Alt-Universe and all the rest, Henry, the
cabbie was so nice, I wish we’d seen him more than twice.
I miss Lincoln, yes I do, I know to some this is taboo.
Gene the cow was really fun, hope she did not end up on a bun.
And now the end is finally near, I will miss these people I hold
so dear . .everyone involved with Fringe deserves a big cheer.
As you fade to black at the end of the show, think of us, true fans
for years as we try to hide our falling tears . . . . .:-(
