It also makes me incredibly happy that Walter remembers what happened throughout Season 1, 2, and 3. That was always a major complaint of mine about Season 4. They have now given Walter those memories back AND have properly addressed those memories. GOOD JOB SO FAR, WYMAN!

I wonder if Olivia will ever feel like Walter is just her Father-In-Law. I don’t think so. I think they all view Walter like a “special needs” individual whom Olivia is responsible for, still. I was kind of hoping after 4.19 that Walter would retain his full brain function and would have more of a leadership and fatherly role but I guess I would miss the quirky Walter. I guess if I get to see Walternate again sometime (or in reruns) that would do it for me.

Over there they have special needs Astrid, over her we have special needs Walter. Maybe if they reset it we can have special needs Broyles. LOL! Now that would be fun to watch. it makes me reminiscent of “LSD”.

So, even though there are technically 2 episodes left we only have Friday and next week’s Friday left.

Does anyone think that they will split up the final 2 episodes, thus giving the introduction 2 go-arounds on the 18th? I was suspecting there to be a “combo-intro” on the final episode, similar to the “7 intros” video on youtube. Or, even better, an intro that is specific to the “Finale” (the last hour) that is used to help tell the story (as so many Fringe intros have in the past).

Anyone know or have any guesses? I don’t know why, but the intros to Fringe are always something that I get excited over. Never felt that way before when watching a television program. It’s been kind of boring only having 1 this season, and that is one that was recycled from 4.19. I really hope we get a new one at least once before it’s all over. Or, even better, they could give us one at the VERY END with the end credits. It could tell a mini story on what universe/timeline our heroes are left in. Amber/Blue/Red/Green/2013/2015/2036/2600′s, etc. It would leave me with a “WTF!?!?!” if they showed us a “Green” intro at the end. Fringe wouldn’t be Fringe if it didn’t leave us with a LITTLE WONDER, now would it?

Yes, and I meant at the beginning of my rant that there are “technically THREE episodes left, but only 2 weeks”, meaning that there are only 2 weeks of intros. Sorry, I wish there was an edit button. But, since 5.12 and 5.13 are together we will probably get only 1 intro on the 18th.

I am glad that the intros are something that other people are into as well. Thanks Rick. I feel a bit let down this season. I would LOVE an intro for the 2600′s, since according to the preview for the “FINAL 3 EPISODES” Windmark goes there at some point.

I hope they do one between ep 5×12 and 5×13. I have a feeling he’ll throw us intro lovers a bone. I recently read an interview in which someone asked him about that, and he played coy. I wish I knew his exact reaction. I think it was something like; We’ll see.

NICE! Thanks for that! See, now I am so damn excited I can hardly contain myself.

I wish they would have just left the last 2 hours after this mini hiatus instead of 3. I have a feeling I won’t enjoy Friday’s episode ENOUGH since I will be so damn rabid for the 2-hour finale. Of course, if the episode blows my mind I guess I’ll enjoy the heck out of it. But, I have a feeling that there is still a lot of pieces needing to be moved “around the chess board” (especially since Peter is still digging out tapes) so I have a bad feeling that we will have an entire HOUR (out of only 3 left) dedicated to a “set-up” situation. Let’s hope not.

I do not know how, but the 3rd video, makes me suspect that Walter will not survive at the end, which makes me feel very sad, I hope I’m wrong. I will miss too much the show. And definitely This will be a matter of …….Tissue, Tissue and more tissue.

I will say if there is no Olivia eppy, Anna Torv has been quite the team player as this has proceeded to the end. A story that has always featured the Dunhamnator as the central character has moved more toward the Bishop Boys. But…there are three episodes left…I can’t imagine the show won’t return to its origin point, so to speak, with Olive as the lead again.

As per usual, there can’t be fringe news without you whining about Olivia. You will be happy if Peter and Walter did NOTHING while Olivia did everything. It’s quite clear that you Olivia fans want every single episode to be Olivia centric just so Peter, Walter, Astrid and broyles will be in that lab doing nothing just so you can gloat about Olivia and criticize everyone else and call them useless.

Only a few of those left, too. Any news on a 3rd Season of American Horror? That and Fringe are the ONLY programs I can think of that take the same actors/actresses and have them play different roles (although NOTHING can compare to Fringe’s different version of the same character). It is very unique. Whenver I watch that I wonder why Fox didn’t just move Fringe to FX. It would make so much sense to me. They could have kept the viewers that moved to Friday nights (with a few exceptions of course, like Betty who doesn’t have FX) but the expectations would have been so much lower.

Well for Betty’s sake I am glad it didn’t move to FX, although I’d have made sure she got a link to see it somehow.

I am not sure what is in store for AHS next season. Whatever it is i will be there watching it.

it is OK, it REALLY is, to…ummm…Observe that Peter and Walter have had much of the season. That is a GOOD thing and has addressed some issues that needed closure. It is also GOOD to note that the heroine of the story needs more time in the story before the story ends. That is called BALANCE. Too much Olive, or too much Peter, or too much Walter, or not enough of any of them, is not good. They are The Big Three, no one greater than the other two.

I think Olivia has been portrayed as a woman whose husband left her to go and find their daughter, then she was encased in Amber for twenty years, when blasted out of the amber she is then introduced to her adult daughter and then the daughter is killed and then her husband almost becomes an Observer and then Nina shoots herself to protect them so they can get the plan to get the bleep out of 2036! Whew . . . . .

I think any normal woman under these circumstances would be reticence.

IMO they have played it just right.

After watching these sneak peeks, I think I’ve finally landed on a good theory. I think that the show might end back in 1985, with Walter having to make the descision of never stealing Peter, as in some way we will find out that it was what really caused all these bad events to happens (apart from the Universe war). It’s a bit of a stretch, but I really don’t think we’re done with the consequences of what he did in the blue timeline yet.

I was recently watching the Peter episode on the Science channel and I had a thought about that situation. September messed up and distracted Walternate from making the cure for red Peter. It appears he was meant to find the cure and save red Peter. Well our Walter goes over and brings red Peter here and saves him. September said he has to save the boy because he is important. So even though Walter crossed universes and started the degradation of blue and red didn’t he also sort of fix September’s mistake. (Of course he created a whole new awful set of problems as well.)

It brings me such joy to see that Walter’s memory has been restored — one of my biggest complaints from Season Four.

Pretty much proves that Nina received the same thing before she died, which likely gave her the confidence to confront Windmark and go through with it.

I wish Astrid and Broyles could be restored too but they are both pretty much the same character.

I don’t know if this is where they are going, but what if the “resetting time” Olivia mentioned, is only jumping them over to the original timeline, because that is where they can defeat the observers?

Because having the resetting time thing jump them back to before the invasion would kinda be anti-climatic. AND they need to bring back the red alternates. I miss them…

I don’t think it’s possible, because the previous timeline has been erased, and rewritten into the current timeline. If there is a reset, it’ll actually create a new timeline from wherever the reset brings them to.

Example: Currently the timeline is the amber timeline from season 4, and they are dealing with the observers in the current 2036, but if they somehow prevent the origin point of the observers, and cause the invasion to have never happened, then it will reset the timeline to 2015, and from there it’ll play out differently since there won’t be an invasion. This would be a new timeline wherein the invasion never happens, and Etta never gets misplaced, and grows up with Olivia and Peter. This would probably result in Etta not getting killed in 2036. I’d call it the green timeline. Yellow+Blue=Green.

When Olive was getting her memories back in ABHB, the P/O love connection scene at the gas station, green was the dominant color, suggesting very clearly the timelines were coming together. Maybe green is what it will be in the end/.

That last clip leaves me feeling a bit polarized.

On the one hand I am happy that Walter has his seasons 1-3 memories back in full. But on the other hand I was always under the impression that these memories were always there under the surface. That a lot of what Walter went through in those seasons with Peter and to a lesser extent Olivia was a driving force behind his actions in seasons 4 and 5. What this clip is seemingly doing however is dismissing this impression outright.

How does everybody else feel about that?

I wish they would’ve thought of that since 4.07 or 4.08, instead of having us and the cast confused the whole year about everybody’s feelings and contrivances with cases from S1. Poor Walter, was pretty much lost in translation until now.

hey Betty, no luck with Roco’s reviews huh?… what gives?…is he accumulating his thoughts for the finale? or maybe he’s prepping a very long review and observations…the next epi is right around the corner and I was hoping to read them before :(

I kind of feel the same way. I feels to me like Wyman felt he had to include a scene like this because fans were upset thinking Walter didn’t remember those years. But to me he was always Walter. I honestly didn’t need a scene like this but that’s me.

He said in the first clip that the memory the boy showed him was in his sub-conscience, so that tells me that it was there all along. just taped over like a cassette tape. It may have been silently persuading his actions all along.

See, I am on the other side of the coin from you guys. I don’t know about the whole “subconscious” thoughts of Walter. The Observers brought PEOPLE BACK TO LIFE! That is different than brain washing everyone. Alt-Broyles, who I thought was brought back originally as a shape shifter but was a normal “human”. William Bell. They apparently dug up alt-Nina (just kidding on that one). They also killed some people, like Olivia’s step-father (at least I think they did because I thought he was only shot in the blue timeline but not killed). I was always bothered by Walter not remembering. It really made me happy that they gave him those memories back. I was more excited about that than him finding out who “Donald” was.

Oh, and Rick, to expand on what you said earlier a day or so ago…It does bother me that they had Walter say to Peter, “You will not be able to change back into a normal human if you keep the Observer tech in your head” during one episode and the next episode show Septermber as a normal human. I agree with you that Donald is September “post-tech”, NOT the 2030′s version of Septemer before he has the tech implanted (I think you can follow that). I always thought it was FUNNY that Walter would establish the rules of the Fringe world after just minutes or seconds of contemplation but I have ALWAYS accepted that. I like that they can allow for mistakes on Walter’s part (as shown by the annoying b-roll footage that was cut) but it seems that he has been wrong about two major things that could give our heroes an advantage:

        A) Observer Peter could do some MAJOR damage if he were to have the tech in his head. If there is a way to remove the technology and allow September to grow hair, get a tan, and smile then Peter should shove that little probe right back into his cloaca (sorry, just bought my daughter a turtle and that is the only word I could think of)
        B) Olivia DOES have some cortexiphan in her system. They should definitely find a way to juice her back up so that she can start catching bullets (Observer gun bullets at that, which is better than even Windmark could do) and messing shit up. It seems like maybe Walter shouldn’t have wiped Massive Dynamic off the face of the planet with Anti-matter in 4.19 since they could have probably opened up a drawer right next to his brain (another change that the Observers were able to do during the “Peter doesn’t exsist reset of Season 4″ which makes me NOT believe in a subconscious thing happening).

Seriously, Walter needs to stop guessing wrong when it comes to things that could HELP the Fringies (btw, while I am ranting, calling the “native police” the Fringe division is kind of silly, too).
