I don’t normally read these but I was desperate to know what the twist would be. That is awesome.
Hot debate. What do you think?

2036? The last time jump was to 2026. Why are we going ten years further?

My guess is that this is after the machine has been created and is going to be sent back in time

Oh, okay. That actually makes a lot of sense. But wasn’t that timeline erased, along with Peter?

I think that 2036 is a year, in which the ”Observer Division” is going to be created.

ok, I know this is from STE, but the idea is kibd of similar.

why do people have to nag about everything i say? do you honestly have nothing better to do? They gave away that its a time jump. i find that spoilery. it was a completely innocent comment. get off my case.

It’s probably less to do with this particular comment (it is kind of spoilery) and more to do with every other comment you post. No offense but you’re the biggest buzzkill in the joint.
I have plenty of problems with the season and have complained about them on here and elsewhere but 99% of what you post is horribly negative. From your post on the promo for next week:
“Fauxlivia with an assault rifle…. that single glorious image almost makes up for the last season and a half of pointless f**kery. almost, but not quite.”
Even when complimenting something, you almost seem to take pleasure in sh*tting on the rest of the season. A season that some people enjoy very much. Do you understand why people might get on your case or seem annoyed yet?

yes. my opinion of the show is negative at this point. i think that’s been made perfectly clear. so rather than nagging at me about it why don’t you just accept that not everyone feels the same way about the show that you do? i said it time and time again, i am not going away. i didn’t even make a negative comment on this thread, and yet still people find it necessary to jump on me because i seem to be the odd man out in this little community. well you know what? intolerance is far uglier than negativity.

I don’t think you should go away at all. It’s the internet, as long as you’re not hurting anyone you can do whatever you damn well please. Merely pointing out that ceaseless negativity is going to breed negativity in return.

I’m not nagging about everything you say, but I just wanted to point out that, whether or not Roco prefaces something like this with a “spoiler alert” I tend to think anything that involves a future episode (press releases, promo pictures, videos) would be considered a spoiler alert. So for me personally, I keep that in mind whenever I choose to click on a link such as this, knowing full well that reading it means there’s a risk of being exposed to spoilers. Again, I’m not attacking you or your comment, just stating that I think it’s sort of implied that there’s a spoiler alert with anything involving an upcoming episode.

my statement about nagging was not directed solely at you. i just don’t think my initial comment warranted any kind of response. the reason i wrote it was simply because most of the time these press releases are comically vague and now all of a sudden they’re giving away key plot details like major setting shifts.

Understandable. However, I would think you would realize that when you comment, you are opening yourself up to the possibility that someone might actually respond to your comment. And just because they respond, it doesn’t mean that they’re picking on you. It simply means they had something to say in response to what you said. And if I may point out, your initial comment was rather vague and it was unclear exactly what you were saying, so it’s not unreasonable that others reading would be confused or would request clarification.

dude, it was vague because it was only two words. that’s my point. i was irritated that someone would even reply to that.

But that’s exactly my point. By posting a comment of only two words, without elaborating on what exactly you were trying to say, it was vague and confusing, left open to interpretation. So you can’t blame anyone for misunderstanding what you were saying or for wanting clarification.

Exactly why I commented back to Darthkate. Also, Darthkate, the picture clearly says “SPOILER ALERT”, so what were you really expecting? And don’t say that your comment doesn’t warrant a response, any comment that anyone posts will be read and people will want tor respond. That’s how a blog works. If you don’t want your opinions talked about and responded to, don’t type them and don’t mention anything. Simple.

then ignore it. im not going to write an essay to elaborate on a two word sentiment.

Why would you click something that plainly says “SPOILER ALERT” and then complain about how it’s spoilery? That’s what irked me enough to comment back, since you were wondering.

This sounds so cool…but I’m wondering, will it be a continuation of our old timeline future plot or the future plot from this timeline? Hoping for some First People and Machine plot drops as well!

I’d assume that it’d be this timeline’s future, because the other timelines future never actually happened
Like:

Agreed, but it doesn’t mean that aspects of that future won’t still happen (such as Broyles and whatever the story is behind his eye). Things changed and are different, but there are some things that could still be the same.

I just thought this all through, and realized a bunch of things. Since no one in this timeline ever destroyed the AU, then Walternate in the future would have never been so angry and decided to kill Olivia. Hell, the entire future would have played differently since ‘The Day We Died’ was built around the whole point that Peter destroyed the AU. Now, I’m a believer that even though the machine was created in the future and was sent back in time, it can still exist, regardless of the paradox, because it just does. Really, I think that’s the answer. Sure, it’s a paradox, but I think if the machine ever existed in a time before the future, it wouldn’t just vanish because that future didn’t happen. Time seems to be malleable on this show. The Observers can travel anywhere in time, even to watch the Big Bang apparently, without any consequences.
I’ve tried typing that out in countless other ways, so sorry if it sounds messy :$ But the point I’m trying to make is this: since there was no Peter to destroy the AU in this timeline, the two universes will continue to work together. 2026 future will never happen because there was no need to send the machine back in time to fix the universe. Instead, time will keep going. Walternate will not kill Olivia. The Machine serves some other purpose, perhaps, and basically we get to see how things would play out past 2026, up to 2036. I don’t think Walter would be in prison either.
Okay, this is getting very interesting to me now, can April 20 come any sooner !?

I think I get what you’re saying. But isn’t that one of the main themes in Fringe: fate vs. freewill — the idea that some things are “meant” to happen, regardless of how events unfold in order to get there? It’s the same general idea with the alternate universe. Some things are different because different choices were made. But at the same time, some things are still the same. And there are some things that happened differently but still ended with the same result. For example, the two Olivia’s have different personalities and different life experiences, yet they both ended up as Fringe agents. So while I agree that it won’t be the same future we saw in The Day We Died, I still believe that some things will be the same. Some things will have still happened, even though events happened differently. It will be interesting to see what similarities are present in this now changed future.

The Fate VS Free will thing is really interesting, because it seems the Observers can change the fate of each of our characters, and the machine can change the fate of universes. I agree that some things will be the same, and that’s whats so mind boggling to me, how interesting it is that some things will be the same but the future continues to 2036 this time.
I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for a Fringe episode, Letters of Transit just looks to be so epic and answer questions and recontextualize everything!

I understand. The machine exists; always did, always will. In 2026, Walter will always send it back millions of years so it can be dug up in pieces all over the world.
The 2026 timeline (at least the one we saw in The Day We Died) was erased when Peter decided not to destroy the AU in 2011. And thus, 2036 will look significantly different.

Why so in the future??? I can wait to see this episode. Make sense, they present another future sense the future that they showed us no longer exist.

I’m intrigued, but a little pessimistic about 4.19 based on this press release.
We’ve already *gone* to the future as a gimmick, for lack of a better word. I had hoped the twist of 4.19 would be something completely different.
I think I suffer from inflated expectations with our beloved show! I’ll try to have faith there’s still something mindblowing in the episode.

Have to disagree with going to the future as a gimmick, fed.
After all, we now know that a core concept at the heart of Fringe is time travel and manipulation — what with the Observers and the Peter paradox.
Since The Machine was sent back to the distant past, at some point in the future, to be unearthed and reassembled in the present day, the only way to tell the full story of The Machine is to go to the future.
So it’s not a gimmick, it’s a plot necessity. Looking forward to it.

Does it mean a jump to the future like the season 3 finale where they all get older or are they just gonna hop in a time machine and wizz tO the future??
