Pity we might lose some momentum now due to the 4 week hiatus

Yup, I’ve been thinking that too. The hiatus is for other shows too, like Supernatural, but Fringe could really do without this.

That said, great to see another upturn! This will definitely help in negotiations before Fox and Warner et al over the show’s future.

But as I’ve said a few times here at Fringe Bloggers, Seriable and elsewhere, I really do think it’s time for those of us who profess to love the show, to launch a coherent, coordinated campaign to save it. Or to get JJ Abrams to find a way to get it relocated to another network that doesn’t keep holding a Sword of Damocles over it.

Now is the time when the show is on the knife’s edge of cancellation or a foreshortened farewell season.

Wotcha think Roco? You have a couple of blog sites both with heavy Fringe coverage – can you think of a good way to go about a campaign?

I think part of the reason why this episode received better ratings was that it was overhyped by fox as well as the writers and cast, hence creating the large sense of anticipation surrounding the episode.

That is a valid theory. The observers are one of (if not THE) major mystery of FRINGE and the hype regarding the possible explanation of their origin, may have convinced more fringe fans to stay in and watch it, unfortunately i can see that being the case.

I would expect FRINGE to return at a 1.1 when 4.15 airs, not to be negative but realistic, lets not get our hopes up.

I don’t live in the US but out of curiosity, do you know how often (if at all) does Fox show the promos/sneak peeks for an episode during the week on tv?

I mentioned last season, and at least in my area, it still is the case…I watch most other shows on Fox (House, Terra Nova, Idol sometimes, and my local news, and never see ANY promos for Fringe.

In my area, I usually see promos at least once a night for Fringe…but I watch stuff from my DVR a lot and so skip through commercials unless I see something for Fringe or another program I am already interested in. More promos would be good, though! Hook a few new people!

Well if that is the case, maybe they should do a little more of that so we can bring more fans back in…

I’m hoping that we’ll stay above the 1.1 mark… It would just be disappointing…

I believe if we get more mythology that is the key to bringing in better ratings IMO…

Awesome news! fox needs to promote the show better in the next 4 weeks so that when the 23rd of March comes we can have a steady increase of viewers. These last 8 episodes are going to be important and so will the ratings.

All right, let’s not lie that it would be amazing to have high numbers.

But, I am so impressed that we have been consistent all season.

3 million on average every single week.

I am genuinely impressed.

It’s the consistency that gives me a lot of hope for season 5. No, the numbers aren’t amazing but they are steady and pretty reliable.

Hang on, I’m confused.

How is 3.21 million for 4.05 a 1.3 rating,whilst 3.33 million for 4.10 is a 1.2?

Baffling.

it’s a percentage. It means that fewer people were watching tv on the night 4.05 aired and more people were watching tv last friday.

1.3 is a snapshot of the percentage of people watching at any one minute in the age group of the important 18-49 age group that advertisers focus on. So it is conceivabe that you could have a high number of viewers but a low 18-49 rating depending on who is watching and not necessarily how many are watching and vice versa.

No adjustment for Fringe in the final ratings, staying on a 1.2. Nice to see it rise from its series low 1.1, would be even better if we can get it to 1.3 when it returns.
