Fringe 3.12 Concentrate and Ask Again Ratings [UPDATED]

Someone tell Petah to power-up.

UPDATED: Fringe scored a final 1.6 adults 18-49 and 4.3 million viewers – a 16% drop on the 1.9 averaged for the previous two weeks.

Fringe finally went up against a new episode of Supernatural (1.0, 2.3 million viewers) and the Super Bowl commercials, but that’s a meaty dip. Hopefully next week will bring upward momentum. Time will tell, but no time to get complacent.

Head past the jump for the Fringe season 3 ratings so far.

what is the future for Fringe? it´s better than ever; it´s become incredibly masterful at mixing the overarching mythology with MoW stories and impossibly great character moments, and there´s nothing better on TV right now. but the ratings aren´t the best there are. however, Supernatural isn´t doing a lot better than Fringe, and it´s on its seventh season already. so… do you think there´s still a lot of Fringe for the future?

Supernatural has never been a ratings bonanza, but it’s the CW’s most popular show, which is why it stays on the air. I think CSI probably had more of an impact on Fringe’s ratings.

I think the Super Bowl commercials were important to these numbers than Supernatural. Here’s hoping the final rating will be adjusted up. 1.7 would still be a good number. Next week will be really important, and Fringe must hold steady or up a bit. I think 1.6 till the end of the season looks good for renewal. Fingers crossed!

I don’t think we need to freak out just yet. Yes, we should be at the 1.9-2.0 range but at least now that we’ve got the competition back, we know what we’re up against.
We just need to make sure that we do NOT drop below a 1.6 in the future.

I think it’s important to point out that 1- The Superbowl thing got the same ratings as Fringe did the last two weeks and that 2- we beat Supernatural by a long shot. Hopefully next week ratings will go back to normal without the superbowl commercials… but maybe I’m just being optimistic.

People lets PLEASE get Fringe up again, of course it was not because of Supernatural I mean come on its comparing Caviar to Bologna. Fringe is so phenomenal. It WAS because of the Superbowl commercials, though I did love singing Peter Olivia and Walter throwing the football! Anna should have totally spiked it though. Lets get the ratings back up, Fringe has a loyal fanbase so spread the word!!! Lets see this show go beyond a Season 4!!!

Lets take a positive out of this. Fringe went up against the competition and we only dropped 16%….which means people are sticking with Fringe. So, now we need to step up the campaign again…..and get Fringies to watch Fringe LIVE. I cannot contribute to the ratings as i live in australia…….BUT i do sit at home on Saturday at lunchtime and watch Fringe via LIVE streaming. I feel like i am making a contribution in some way….i am still supporting the show that i am absolutely obsessed by.
Next week will be a real test as we head over to the Alt-universe…..and i know some Fringies have said they wont watch this…..BUT i implore you to at least have the tv on whilst Fringe is on. Its all hands on deck to keep this show afloat. The producers and actors of Fringe know we are behind them…we just need to out there in full force every week….and i mean EVERY week!

I wasn’t going to but I guess I will. I’m getting tired of people complaining about the storylines and the writing and then saying they’re not watching AU episodes. I want to see any of those who don’t like the story line to write a better one. Fringe writers are one of the best ones out there right now. Go ahead, give it a try and see what you can come up with. Are you true Fringies or not? I’m going to stick with it until the end and no matter where the storyline is going. I find the story lines right now very intruiging and leaving me with more questions and wanting Fridays every day. And I’m very much looking forward to this next AU episode. The worst Fringe episode (which I haven’t seen one yet) is still better than most of the stuff that airs. I stuck with X-Files even though I didn’t like how it ended but I stayed with it. If Fringe gets cancelled are you then going to complain because it got cancelled? Well, then I guess you should have stuck with it.
Can we please stay positive and supportive!!!!

Some of you may not like the AU.
But I have to give credit to Anna and John who make their characters totally different persons so that in a sense we don’t like them. Their acting ability deserves every respect and recognition and for that alone we should watch AU episodes.

I completely agree Cortexifan…the alternate universe is not my favorite place right now. But it would be ridiculous to not watch an episode simply because it is centered over there. It is up to us to show Fox that we want Fringe to have a season 4 (and hopefully many more) It shouldn’t matter where the episode takes place, the important part is that it is FRINGE! And it speaks very very loudly to the talents of Anna and John that people can feel so strongly for or against these characters. These amazing actors are portraying two completely different, yet completely similar personalities. I can’t think of a single big time actor who has come close to showing the skill that the actors of Fringe have shown. I honestly think I am watching Olivia in this universe and then someone completely different over there. Its the show, writers, and actors we need to support here. We all love Fringe, let’s not give up on them yet!

you couldnt have said it better :-) Its such a shame that living outside the USA I cannot contribute to the ratings…

I live in the US and cannot contribute to ratings. I re-watch the episodes on hulu in the hope that it may help but I know it helps very little if any. In the end we are all at the mercy of the Neilsen families.

Who are these people that won’t watch the AU episodes? I’ve been looking forward to this upcomming AU episode since it was announced. I know a lot of people don’t like Altlivia but I find her facinating. We know so little about her yet it seems she will play a key role in the fate of OU and the AU. I can’t wait to learn more about her!

I’d like to be in the USA with all my friends. Because, since I told them about Fringe, they keep watching it… in streaming. Because we live in a french department, so we can’t watch it on TV unfortunately. Why can’t we (all the Fringies-of-the-net) contribute ? I mean, it’s also important ! That’s unfair…

I agree. I live in Greece and have no way of supporting the show (we are quite a few people watching) we can do nothing. That’s unfair.

The same here in Spain. It does not help that we watch it, because only US numbers count. And since it seems like FOX won’t get money from the DVDs it is useless to buy them :-(

Not completely useless. The more money WB makes from the show the more likely they will be to lower the licensing fee. If they can lower the licensing fee the more likely Fox will renew.

I would be curious to know what the ratings are for the re-broadcast episodes, like the repeat of last nights episode-tonight @11pm, and how they compare to one another and if the repeat the following night has any influence or affect on the overall ratings … like the DVR recorders can contribute … if they do at all. I watched last night and I will also catch the repeat tonight. I also wonder how the shows ratings are doing in the AU? ;)

you know, i agree with you. it´s not pessimism; it´s actually expectant optimism. i´ll cry like a baby if they cancel Fringe; but i´ll be cool if they at least let them finish the arch of season 3.
and, anyways you think about it, what else can they do after a war between two universes? a war between three universes? unless they do for season 4 Crisis on Infinite Fringeverses, where else can they go?

      • RKron says

I don’t think this arch is supposed to be over so soon; it is THE main plot of the show, unlike the Cortexiphan cases, John Scott cases, ZFT cases, etc. (even if they add up to the main story). Plus, possible arches for the future can really clear away all those questions opened in the 3 seasons: the Massive Dynamic clones, alternate Mr Jones, more ZFT, the still missing Dr Penrose, Amy Jessup’s Bible fetish, to name a few.

Its make or break time for this show…people need to watch every week or the show will not return next season. Not watching an episode because its in the AU is ridiculous, we have to show that we’re loyal and watch ALL episodes.

I think it’s important to note that Fringe DID beat all their usual competition for that Friday-night time slot. The only higher rated was the Super Bowl commercials which are a big popular draw and sort of like a once-a-year special.
If we super fans keep watching and telling all our friends to watch LIVE, I think the numbers will come back up.

When Olivia sipped her coffee and then checked it’s with milk, the way she forced the coffee down is the way how she’d been forced to accept that Peter still couldn’t get rid of Faulivia on his head.

I saw a lot of comments above saying Olivia should move on and what a cry-baby Olivia was with Peter about Faulivia. In my opinion, Olivia did move on. They will get past the conflicts but it needs time. Olivia is still very wounded by the fact that nobody knows she’s gone when she’s Over There which leads to where Olivia blurted out the fact to Nina saying Faulivia is like her but better because she has friends who love her. Olivia said that as if to indicate she’s alone in this world. The same goes to Simon when he says he feels alone in this world because he could hear everybody’s thoughts.

Then again, when Olivia pointed out to Peter saying Simon is broken because he’s a cortexiphan test subject, Peter said to Olivia ‘You’re nothing like him.’ Is that line genuine or there’s some other meaning behind it. What do you guys think?

Oh yah, by the way, there’s another thing…when Simon and Olivia looked over at Peter, Simon hears his thought right? I could only manage to hear something about ‘what the machine can do’ and ‘two years’. It could mean Peter is having a two-sided emotions whether to choose Olivia or Faulivia.

‘He still has feelings for her’ <– What kind of feelings does he refer to? Hatred? Or Love? Could Simon knows there's a parallel universe and there's two Olivias? The sentence 'He still has feelings for her' could means Peter still has feelings for Our Olivia and not particularly fixed to be Faulivia.

I agree it's hurt to know the truth but sometimes it's better to know the truth than to be lied to. Olivia's face at the end of the episode really breaks my heart. I was so hyper and happy from the very beginning till the very last minute when Simon handed Olivia the 'little secret' envelope. When that scene appear and the next dialogue comes in line, I could sense fishy and unhappy aroma filling up the air and I was right, Olivia looked like her heart had been shattered into million of pieces again~

I was a die hard Bones fan for about a year. I actually started watching Fringe last year during the Bones hiatus. Well, let’s just say that now I only look forward to Fringe. I keep watching Bones because I already started watching the series. But I usually watch the episodes a week or two after they air. It was a good series that I think peaked after season 3. I can usually count the good cases in a total season on one hand.

Fringe on the other hand is just amazing. I actively promote this show to all my friends and family. I’m going to be going to a major theme park in 2 weeks and will have some sort of Fringe poster on my back pack. ;) I’ll do anything to keep this amazing show on the air. It’s just so frustrating that in the end, only the Nielson families count. This really belittles the rest of us.

WHAT?! I seriously do not understand why people would tune in to one episode and not another one. That is so foreign to me, especially in a show like Fringe where there are continuous story archs and ever-building mythology. If you miss an episode, you miss important information. And how can you watch a few episodes and not get hooked in the first place? Weird.

Something tells me that opening the envelope by Olivia is going to cost her and Peter greatly. She is going to react to this knowledge against Nina’s advise. And her reaction may push Peter more toward Fauxlivia. She can’t pretend that everything is fine anymore, and he can allow himself to make a move on her while she is so distant and sad.

Well , you can’t blame her … Peter was lying about his feelings and don’t forget that he conned her by the killing and fooling her by what Fauxlivia may think about him . the error is from Peter not her , she said to him we can get past it while Peter is completely changing , Peter and his strange feeling for Fauxlivia which will cost him to loose her not the other way around .

This is a call to arms to all Fringies: Please keep watching. I believe the next 3 episodes are crucial. Last year they found out in March whether it was going to be renewed. Whether you like the alternate universe and Bolivia or not, please keep watching. Show your support. We want a 4th season. Fringe rules!
