Someone tell Walter the show held firm.
UPDATED: final numbers for the episode show no drop-off, as illustrated below:
“Reciprocity” scored a final 1.9 adults 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers - reflecting last week‘s impressive mid-season return. Fringe didn’t face-off with Supernatural last night as the CW moved it back a week. But these figures are very encouraging – particularly as Fringe held firm despite its lead, Kitchen Nightmares, dropping two tenths from last week’s debut to a 1.7 adults 18-49.
Head past the jump for the Fringe season 3 ratings so far.

Great news! 1.9 is really impressive since Kitchen Nightmares has drop to 1.7.

This is fantastic news… Now I just wish Fringe could shake the lead in of Gorden Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. Not a fan at all of his show. Keep the momentum going for Fringe Fridays.

I still refuse to be intimidated by Supernatural. Yes, it has a group of hardcore fans who watch it faithfully from week to week. But I think Fringe has proven that this 1.9 demo represents its loyal fanbase and I expect those numbers to remain essentially constant. Supernatural may be a similar genre show, but when it comes to ratings, it’s insignificant. Personally, I’m more concerned with the return of CSI NY, which is the show that typically wins Friday nights. Numbers might drop slightly next week, but I don’t expect anything drastic. Fringe’s core audience will stick with it no matter what the competition. Of course, as has been said, that’s no reason to get complacent. Viewers still need to watch if things are to remain high and positive.

I wanted to point something out that maybe wasn’t picked up before…and I totally missed it and now wonder if it something that has occurred in other episodes. The scene where Olivia and Broyles are investigating the fountain with the dead shape shifter, and there is police cars and cops everywhere…well there is this cop car behind teh yellow tape…and behind that cop car there appears to be the figure of an observer standing perfectly still…granted it looks blurry but he seems to be wearing the all familiar hat….I got goosebumps when i saw that….
