Find The Pattern..Find The Triangles?

Perhaps we’re looking too deeply into all of this Fringe stuff, but we’re rabid fans, we make no bones about that. With that said, we present to you the Fringe triangles. Triangle’s, we believe, could be one of the important symbols that occur throughout the show. Those of you who have followed the Fringe viral will know that one of the recurring themes related to looking closer at the things around us in nature and science. Here’s a good example.

In the above image we provide a little snapshot of some of the triangle appearances in Fringe so far. Here’s the breakdown:

1). The Fringe Viral posters contained a leaf with an upright geometric triangle pattern imprinted onto it. We’re under the assumption that the triangle on the leaf represents natures divine proportions, or perhaps it represents ’man’-kinds dominance over ‘mother’ earth (it’s said that the upright triangle symbolizes ‘male’, whilst a downward pointing triangle symbolizes the ‘female’)? Either of these assumptions would tap into the premise of the show.

2). In the second episode, “The Same Old Story”, after the team has gone all Jules Verne and extracted the last living sight out of the stripper’s eyeball, Olivia asks Astrid to ‘triagulate’ the relative location of the bridge. This results in the triangle-shaped location measurement that you see in the middle image (above).

3). In the opening scene of the second episode, the soon to be mother of a “bundle of joy”asks whether Christopher has a pizza in his bag. OK, cravings after sex, I get it, but that was a very strange thing for Loraine Daisy to say. I mean, who carries a pizza in a bag? However, when put into context, it could be argued that this may have been a subtle hint from the writers as to the significance of triangle’s in the show, since Pizza’s are traditionally triangular in shape.

Oh, and get this, all of Loraine Daisy’s sisters have flowers for middle names. Flowers (specifically Daisy’s) also happened to be prominent in the Fringe viral campaign.

OK JJ., you have us obsessing again. You know it’s not good for our health. I mean, what are we going to do when LOST comes back on the air, our rabid brains just can’t take it!

Hey Fringe Fan! Welcome to Fringe Bloggers, please enjoy your stay.

  1. Now… look at the top of this page from the prequel to the Fringe comic book series … the plane of “unknown origin and design” is… what shape?

  2. Thanks for posting this, I don’t think any of us even noticed that. Perhaps it’s worth emphasising the part you quoted - “unknown origin and design”. Do triangles contain the ‘optimum’ geometric proportions to unlocking natures codes?
