Earthling seems to be somewhat of a watershed moment in the Fringe fandom. It’s not that it was a bad episode, per se. (I stand by my 7 out of 10 rating because it did address some earlier problems of the series). However there seems to be more frustration being voiced about this episode than any other. I put this down to 3 things – the hiatus, the flaws in the episode, and the growing fears that Fringe will be canceled due to the recent Nielsen ratings.
Below the jump are my honest opinions on what I think is currently wrong with the show, and the solutions that I believe would help make the show better than ever.

UPDATE: Congratulations to Phillip Broyles and Lance Reddick for winning the Earthling Fringie of the Week with 57% of the vote. Standings as of this episode; 1st: Olivia Dunham (4 wins), joint 2nd: Peter Bishop / Phillip Broyles (1 win each).
Welcome to Fringie of the Week – the weekly poll where Fringe fans get to vote for their favourite character performance from the latest episode – 2.06 “Earthling”.
Olivia is currently leading this season’s charts with 4 wins to Peter’s solitary victory, but they’ll both have a fight on their hands to prevent Broyles from notching his first win of the season after his centric episode.
Feel free to cast your vote using the poll below. We’ll update this post with the results once the poll closes on Thursday.
Fringie of the Week: 2.06 Earthling
Total Voters: 188

EPISODE 2.06: “EARTHLING”
Emmy Award winner Jon Cassar (24) directs as the Fringe Division takes on a puzzling investigation of victims who inexplicably disintegrate into ash. The shadowy case casts light on Special Agent Phillip Broyles’ (Lance Reddick) past and leads the team to the possibility of foreign fringe science.

It feels like Christmas Eve. Well, not quite. But with the return of Fringe just a day away I’m so excited that I feel like leaving a glass of milk and some cookies out for father Fringe. (what do you mean he doesn’t exist!?).
The Lowatus’ reign is almost complete, but it’s planning one final cruel twist which involves the baseball going to game 7 tonight. Hopefully that wont happen and we can all watch Fringe tomorrow. With that in mind we have a few cool bits and pieces below the jump to tide you over til’ then:

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
Not quite, is the answer – we still have to navigate our way around the final bend of the Lowatus. But I swear, we’re nearly there – the promised land is in touching distance and nothing can stop us (well, except the baseball if it goes to match seven). To prove how close we are to some new Fringe, we have an itsy bitsy sneak peek at Thursday’s prospective episode titled “Earthling”. I love this title, it conjures so many possibilities in my mind. I sure hope they don’t waste it!
