Daily Poll: Will You Miss Charlie Francis?

by Roco on September 22, 2009 · 19 comments

Bye CharlieSo Charlie from “over here” is seemingly dead – his body burned in the furnace, removing the small chance of any Walter hocus-pocus in bringing him back.

But will you miss him, or have you already moved on?

Feel free to make your vote count in the poll below.

Poor Olivia, she lost her boyfriend in ep.1.01 and now, lost her best friend in ep.2.01. Who can she confide with now? Who can spare her a ‘shoulder to lean on’?

You know, I couldn’t vote for the one that says “Fringe won’t be the same without him” because, in my opinion, that statement is reserved for Olivia, Peter, and Walter. Personally, they are in a different category than Charlie and others. I mean, seriously, if you were to take away any of those three, the show would have a very different feel to it, and I believe it would be like there was this big hole there. But Charlie, as much as I will miss him and all that he brought to the show, I can’t say he’s in the same group and that he will leave a gaping hole. But will I miss Charlie? Most certainly. Despite all the rumors and speculation over the summer, and the way it was essentially obvious what was going to happen, it was still heartbreaking to watch it actually play out on screen.

Absolutely. He’s the hottest looking guy on the show. Has a voice that could convince anybody to do anything and has these “I’m-almost-sorry-for-it” eyes. I also stand by my opinion that he had the best chemistry with Olivia out of anyone so it befuddles me as to why he’s the one that’s going. A little angry actually.

Kirk Acevedo brought class and depth to this show. He’s the actor who made you take it seriously.

Hopefully, they’ll notice that the show is suddenly duller, more shallow and less believable and they’ll come to their senses and quickly write him back in.

They should not let him go. He brought a resonance to everything that came out of his mouth. And that’s been precious little. Made such an impact with scarcely nothing to do. It’s a shame. Shaking my head. Bad decisions, man, bad decisions.

Charlie wasn’t crucial to the series, but I liked him. Maybe we’ll see some more of alter-Charlie in the future. It would be nice to find a way to keep KA in the lineup, because his days as a shape-shifter are so numbered. The story can definitely go forward without him, but I would have preferred to keep him.

Charlie Francis lends us a point of view that grounds the other characters despite their new found place in their universe. It seems to me that if the producers of Fringe decide to do away with Charlie Francis permanently then like so many average shows they will be catering to the lowest common denominator. The character of Charlie and in particular Kirk Acevedo’s interpretation of him lent the show a credibility that will be sorely missed and will be near impossible to recreate with someone else. The grit he shows on Fringe is what allows the show to compete for viewers of conventional television crime dramas and is the type of realism we viewers of new science fiction expect from our shows.

I miss Charlie so much. The cool thing about Fringe is that almost every “not-as-important” character is likable. Charlie wasn’t part of the “trio” but he was Liv’s friend who knew what she was thinking and knew how to make her feel better. Olivia has a good relationship with Peter but it’s just not the same.

I’m actually surprised by how painful this has been for me (blush). Watching Fringe just hasn’t been as enjoyable all year because my fave character is gone…waaah! Still a good show but I feel we really lost someone. tptb please bring Charlie back!!! (somehow…grrr…)

If KA is willing, I think we’ll see Charlie again in alternate form. At the very least, we know that he’s out there..somewhere.

I loved Charlie’s character. He was funny and knew exactly what Olivia was thinking. I hope that they bring KA back. I keep watching every episode in hopes he will return.

tony – I can’t be sure, but if you’re referring to Monday’s episode, it was a previously unaired episode from last season. So Charlie’s still dead.
