Daily Poll: Weiss Guy Or Bye-Bye?

Heeeey, fancy a spot of tennis?

If red is your color, he’s your man. If you need to know your shoe size before your next trip to Foot Locker, give him a call. But don’t ask him for a game of bowling because he’ll just give you the run around.

I am of course talking about Sam. Fringe’s very of Weiss-guy.

I like him, I have to say. Fringe needs a character like him in play, someone to bring in every now and then to shake things up (albeit very slowly). But not everyone has been impressed by his screwy behaviour and would sooner see him gone.

What is your opinion on Sam – are your bowled over or unimpressed? Feel free to vote in the poll and see whether or not your view changes as we get to know more about our 8-time bowling champ.

As I’ve already mentioned, Sam Weiss adds a certain something to the show. I feel like I’m writing around exactly what he does add, because I find it very hard to pin down. I think it was Roco who called him our “Mr. Miyagi”. I can’t think of a more apt description of who he his and what he brings to the show.

Miyagi: You remember lesson about balance?
Daniel: Yeah.
Miyagi: Lesson not just karate only. Lesson for whole life. Whole life have a balance. Everything be better. Understand?

He brings a balance to Olivia’s life when she needs balance more than just about anything. And he brings a certain peace, something else ‘Liv needs just as badly. His character is in the picture beyond the mirror. There have been times during the first four eps this season when I wanted to reach out to Olivia, to let her know that she would be OK. But I can’t because hers is a place beyond the mirror, a place I can never reach. Suddenly, there was Sam and he was beyond the mirror! He did for her what I would do if only I could. (However crazy his exercises seemed, the worked. Remember, “Wax On, Wax Off”.) So, Sam, I luve ya, man. Just continue to do your thing. Just keep on helpin’ my gal.

well, to me walter provides olivia with scientific answers, peter gives her a more practical & physical support, broyles is her professional anchor, but sam seems to be shaping up to be her very own spiritual guide (and i’m not necessarily talking about the religious kind) – which in the end will probably help her keep her sanity.

And don’t forget that his last name means “white” – another colour.
