Daily Poll: The Truth is Coming, But How Will Peter Find Out?

One of the most intriguing stories so far in Fringe has been the ticking time-bomb that is Peter’s origins. In a recent opinion poll, FB readers voted this as the Peter theme they are most invested in, helping to illustrate just how much fans have connected with this particular story. Aside from a few fleeting moments, Peter seems completely oblivious to the fact that he’s a replacement from another universe, brought over by Walter when his original son died. But the indications are that Walter’s secret is wearing thin – even he seems resigned to the fact that Peter will get his answer.

Despite my anticipation for the reveal, I believe how Peter finds out might be more crucial than when he finds out. We all know that he’s going to find out one day, but how the truth is revealed to him could be the difference between Peter storming off to lead the last great storm, or helping to “watch the gate” with Olivia and Fringe Division.

What are your feelings on this? How do you think Peter will find out about his origins? Feel free to cast your vote below, and when the truth finally does come out we’ll revisit this poll to see how close to the truth you all were.

How will Peter find out that he's from another reality?

I think if Walter was going to tell him, he would’ve already.

I hope it somehow involves that mafia mess he’s involved in. One more Peter thing they have yet to resolve…

For Walter’s own sake I hope it’s him who tells Peter. I think it’s the only chance he has of Peter ever trusting him again.

Walter’s line (to August) about being prepared to face the consequences might be an indication that he is building up to telling Peter, but maybe Peter will find out through other means first?

I’d love for the writers to bring the mafia storyline back into the fold, although I’m not sure how they’d know about Peter’s origins? You never know though, maybe they’ll surprise us!

I believe the Walter on the other side is the true master mind, hell bent on getting his son back by making the shape shifters to cross over to take over our dimension but to also get his son back. I think that the shape shifter, the one that found his head, will hunt down Peter to send him back to the other Walter before they start “the final storm”

Interesting theory, I like it! I hope it becomes as personal as that because as well as “opening the gate”, directly involving the shape-shifters storyline with our main characters would drive the show into a new level.

I was kinda hoping that Peter and Co. would be the one’s doing the ‘hunting down’ though – at least that’s what we were promised with our new ‘proactive Peter’.

I was having a hard time choosing between “He’ll piece it together on his own” and “He’ll find out by accident”, but I voted for the latter. The former suggests he has reaon to be looking for an answer to this, and this would show a lack of trust in Walter, thought the writers are trying to build everything up to as close as a normal relationship as they can get before it al goes Kaboom.

See, I’d love that – for Peter to become suspicious, play detective over the course of a few episodes and then *BAM!*, confront Walter for answers in an explosive face-off.

The funny thing is, over the past few episodes it almost seems as if Walter wants Peter to find out – either that, or he’s testing the water to see how much his son remembers.

I hope the writers handle this storyline with care.

Page 48, don’t you have anything to contribute to this show besides your constant complaining and always comparing it to Alias or your sarcastic comments?

Yeah! Page48, what are you thinking coming on a blog site to state your opinions? YeeYang is right, there is no place in this Socialist State for ideas of your own. Either speak compliments or don’t speak at all. Long live dictator YeeYang1!

I like the idea of knowing something Peter doesn’t and I was hoping it wouldn’t come. I like his interactions with Walter right now, and knowing him or any human, would end up taking it with a grain of salt. But if it has to be so, I would like it to be somewhat random. examples:

-Walter would blurt it out in an interruption in a mid sentence of Peter’s.

-The re-capitated head guy will tell him, then he’ll fall down and bump his head and forget everything.

I like the idea of Walter blurting something out, probably while doing an autopsy while eating a corndog. Maybe not all of it,just enough to get Peter’s memory jogged a bit. Then Peter would start putting together the pieces.I certainly wouldn’t want it to be a sudden revelation, but a long subplot to the series.

Whatever Peter’s reaction it better be huge enough for people to put that on their top ten moments. I am sick of Olivia getting all the attention.
