Walter Bishop

This season, Fringe stands on the brink of greatness. Don’t buy into the muted promotional campaign, the semi-serialized television hopeful is one of 2 or 3 shows that I believe has the potential to take the genre to new heights.

But as with any leap, there are also pitfalls. Dangers lurk around every creative corner and doubt can infect minds faster than a virus.

But where do you take a show that has already come so far using only half of its potential? Do you step on the gas and put your strongest foot forward, or do you take half measures and watch it all apple crumble before your eyes? The road not taken can be a bitter pill to swallow.

So as we step through the last sticky strands of Lowatus fever, I present my 10 Hopes for Fringe Season 3. If by the end of the season Fringe has realized these hopes, I think the genre will have a new hero, and we will have been there to experience it.

Fringe S3 Spoiler Tidbit

Last week we discovered that a certain Big Momma would be passing through the hallowed gates of Fringe next season. Now we’re hearing that this new arrival will carry “surprising” connections.

Head past the jump for more, unless you’re spoiler free, in which case you’re probably better off staying clear of this rabbit hole.

One of the most explored relationship sets in Fringe is the one between father and child. Almost every episode uses this most endearing bond as a focal point, providing depth and heart to the decisions that are made and the consequences which follow.

Fathers are often viewed as superheroes in the eyes of their young, naive off-spring. But often circumstance, and sometimes ego, compromise the choices that these protectors make for their children.

On this day of celebration for fathers everywhere, it’s only right that we take a look at the best and worst ‘daddies’ that Fringe has to offer. Below the jump are The 9 Good and Bad Daddies from the past two seasons of Fringe. If there are any that we’ve missed, feel free to share them in the comments.

Post image for Fringe: The Beginning of The Mend – Should Peter Forgive Walter?

We’ve seen the evidence – the origins of Peter’s kidnapping, the motivation that propelled Walter into taking nearly-Peter from his Other World to raise him as his own. We’ve witnessed the heartache, Olivia’s involvement and Peter’s continued semi-aware ignorance. Even God has weighed in!

So as we head closer to the moment of truth – some 30 plus hours of Fringe in the making, there is one question that seems to matter more than any other right now – Should Peter forgive Walter?

With Fringe still in the grips of Lowatus, what better way to warm our mitts than by delving deep into Walter Bishop’s inner sanctum. And by inner sanctum, I of course mean his Lab.

Continue past the break to view the behind the scenes photos of Walter’s Laboratory.

Review: Fringe Graphic Novel

Fringe Graphic Novel

The offiial Fringe Graphic Novel from DC/Wildstorm was released in December. The softcover contains each of the stories (including the main Bishop/Bell story) featured in the 6 comics that were released between October 2008 and August 2009. I got my copy a while ago, and having not seen many reviews for the product, I’ve decided to post my review below for those who are wondering whether or not it’s an essential fan purchase.

The Secrets of Fringe - The Other Side

In this edition of Secrets of Fringe, executive producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman talk about: The Other Side, Off Market Tech, The Universes of Fringe, and why consequences are more important than answers (preach it!). I also weigh in with some of my own thoughts after the video, which you can find below this thing us bloggers call the jump:

So the weight of the wait is upon us as we arrive at our first Fringe-less Thursday until April 1st. But worry not, Jacksonville left us with a heap of intriguing plot pieces which we will not doubt go over during the break.

But if you think we have it bad with what must be the 47th Lowatus of the season, spare a thought for poor Olivia. There she was, hair firmly DOWN, and all ready for a night out with Peter – then she finds out that he’s from the alterverse. Total Mood Kill!
