Ugh. Aside from any feelings on Olivia and Peter as a couple, this is ridiculously contrived. Given the way we’ve seen Olivia react so far, they’re gonna have to work to get me to believe that Olivia would be willing to take this step, and hopefully something more than just Peter’s frankly icky line from the US promo. And even if they do, how long do they drag out the baby reveal. I don’t label everything to do with love triangles and accidental babies soapy or contrived, but the execution of the last episode certainly was and if this episode plays out the way I fear it will based on this promo, this will too.
Here’s hoping I’m wrong and it plays differently.

My point is that whatever she feels, Olivia has clearly been in too much pain to take a step like this so far. I will want to see WHAT changed her mind. But more than that, my point is that even if it DID make sense (and it will to some of us and not to others), it’s a cheap ploy because it’s so obviously and inorganically being set up just to be knocked down by the Fauxlivia baby reveal.
In respect of Olivia getting pregnant too, I most certainly hope not. I think that would be cheap, lazy, sensationalist writing. It would devalue Olivia’s role within the narrative as doing that to both Olivias has a far more uncomfortable sense of turning them into duplicate baby machines for Peter’s Great Seed than just one of them.
In addition, it’s the kind of melodramatic storyline I cannot see a satisfying end to. It would effectively tie up Fauxlivia/Peter/Olivia as an extended familial unit as long as they and their children survived, which in turn means the idea of being a replacement, or being constantly reminded that you once were a replacement/replaceable will be unavoidable for both women.
Sorry, I just find the whole idea gross. I really hope it doesn’t happen. I’m not sure my affection for the show could survive it.

This exactly. I’m (was) a P/O shipper since season 1. But I’ve just laughed at this. I really don’t know what to think of this relationship anymore.
But some are already speculating it might be a dreamy sequence hence the Peter line in the US promo “I’ve seen the two of us together, blah blah blah”.

The whole triangle from the start of the season up until now has been contrived. They keep changing the characters feelings and character to fit in with keeping the triangle alive. There still doing that with the pregnancy last week, because now Bolivia becomes a player in what side Peter should pick and which one survives. If nothing happens between Peter and Olivia on this side, then when he finds out about the baby, there is no conflict if he is not with Olivia. If he is with Olivia, then he has ties with both sides, so which side survives?
Really, the whole triangle, which side survives thing is rediculous, and I can’t believe that this is what the whole season has been about. The discovery and building of the machine, all fits into the triangle.
They could have done this so differently. They could have still bought Bolivia over, but used her differently and not have her in a relationship with Peter. The writers have said that they made Bolivia pregnant, so that it would humanize her and the altuniverse. Again, they could of done that in lots of other ways, but we’ve gone the love triangle route instead. Everybody was happy for the romance to stay in the background and remain lowkey, while at the forefront was the scifi element.
The writers said that they know what they are doing, but I’m not sure about that. This backwards and forwards thing with P/O is driving people nuts. Again the audience knows something that the characters don’t, so again we have to wait for things to get ugly, while watching P/O trying to work things out/give things a go. You can’t keep doing that to viewers and still expect them to care, because after awhile they just won’t. That is a worry, especially if a large part of the show hinges on that.

Since s1 we found how the writers develop the relation between Peter and Olivia and how that every case some how had a link for Olivia and Peter , I just re-watched ” what lies below” and I can see how Peter was in side ( with color red-blue ) and Olivia is at the other side (with color yellow ) , I don’t think it will an happy ending .. but it’s true feelings there .
Why the universe would collapse on what ever Peter will choose ? why Olivia is important ? why Peter is important ? why Walter was wanting to hook-them -up since s1 ? why Walternat said that because of a girl I lost him again ? what is the connection between Peter and Olivia ?
and how both are going to save the universes ? ….

This “Love Triangle” between Peter, Olivia and Altivia is driving me crasy and now we have a damm baby in the middle, come on, what happened to Fringe? What happened to the time where Olivia was a fighter, Peter had a past, Walter and Astrid lives and personalities were explored, not just two people who say how to stop the killer and period, where Broyles wasn’t just a guy who says what the case is and where Nina even appearing a few times said RELEVANT things.
Maybe I’m just being too hard on the show, but this road the its taking is one of the worst possible. I’m still supporting it, but they should put this “triangle/doom baby” in the back and focus in what the show really is.

The old lady thinks her husband is a ghost, but he seems he is her alt-husband as the worlds are colliding Jacksonville-style, or maybe “just” Our Side is collapsing just like Over There.
To me, Olivia has realised that her feelings for Peter are strong anyway and they won’t have time. Olivia has seen the Red Universe’s amber and devastation. And so has Peter. Perhaps Olivia told Peter “And I don’t want to be with you”, but these events Over Here would make her reconsider that decision.
(And yes, even if they get together, the altbaby is going to destroy everything they are trying to heal here)

Wow- I am not sure that I saw that coming. Why do I feel so uneasy??? I have a strange feeling that we are being set up (again). To me it would be worse if these 2 make some substantial progress in repairing their rift, and then, as Peaunut so greatly put it, the Bundleofdoom comes along and they break up again. I would almost prefer that they stay apart until the whoe baby-mama drama is resolved, and then resolution.
Then again, they could bond, and then when Walternate springs the Bundleofdoom on Petah, he and Olivia deal with it together, difficult as it may be.

I had sort of figured that we would see Olivia and Peter start to repair their relationship to the point where it was a bit shaky, but making progress, but I have to say, from the looks of things, this is quite a bit quicker than I’d expected. It will be interesting to see how it actually plays out in the episode. But I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I don’t want to have to see Olivia work to prove to Peter that she’s just as good or better. I don’t want her to have to take the initiative. She shouldn’t have to do anything to make Peter want to choose her. I feel like it is his responsibility and his alone to choose her and to show her that his feelings are sincere. Without that, I don’t think I could trust the relationship between them to be genuine and believable and equal.

I’ve always thought the relationship between Peter and Olivia developed subtlely and naturally. I hope writers will focus more on sci-fi as well even though I am a big shipper (sci-fi still wins the day). As long as the writers are honest in their sci-fi story development and the drama is not so contrived that I feel completely manipulated, I can take the anticipated “ugh” that is likely to come. I was so afraid Olivia would wallow for the rest of the season…but I’m feeling much more optimistic now. The executive producers did indicate that there is nothing they won’t through at Anna Torv for this character. And if the characters come out stronger, I’m okay.

I’m somewhat wary, but mostly happy at this development. I feel like the two have alot of issues to work through still, but I guess I’ll have to wait and see the entire episode before I judge how the writers get Olivia to this point in the promo.
As someone else I know also pointed out, episode 14 usually ends up being really good for Peter/Olivia shippers (of which I am one). And, the Peter/Olivia aside, I still think Ability and Jacksonville are two of the best Fringe episodes. So, here’s me being a bit optimistic and hoping “6B” will be really awesome as well!

Hmm I’m unsure, and no one has mentioned it. But.. the scene where Olivia and Peter are running behind an old lady that’s sitting down… at first glance I saw Elizabeth. Rewatching I’m unsure, though it still looks very similar to her.
I forget how she looked, when they made her up old in the Alt Verse.
I assumed that was the spoiler, so I was psyched out of my socks.

If this is what it looks like then i’m not sure i like it. If this was Season 1 or 2 Peter then i would be happy for them both. But season 3 Peter is very much a lost caused for me.
I’m scared we will go from Peter being with Fauxlivia pretending she is Olivia to now Peter being with Olivia pretending she’s Fauxlivia. The guy is too messed up. His love for Olivia is not coming across as genuine or deep. She shouldn’t go there with him….please walk away Olivia he is not worth it.
It can only be a love triangle if Olivia allows herself to participate in it. She needs to pull out, start being the Dunhamator again and saving both universes.

Well, the writers sacrificed Peter’s character so that people would get invested in the altuniverse and Bolivia. The writers prefer that universe over the over here now. So, to humanize Bolivia they get her pregnant and the only way to do that was to dupe Peter and make him be stupid and conflicted.
The writers will continue to muddy the waters between Peter and Olivia because they want to keep the triangle alive. You know who does Peter choose, thing! However, it’s not really about Peter at all, it’s about the two Olivias, about knocking them down and building them up again. Peter is just the punchball for the writers. He just goes to whichever Olivia they want to push their story arc forward.

So what if Nina is going to tell Olivia what she just found out from Sam Weiss: The universe that is going to survive depends on Peter and which Olivia he chooses. So what if Olivia knows about this and is now going to “safe” our universe by “pretending” that she is still so much in love with Peter and wants him back and all this? She is approaching him similarly to the way Altliv did. What do you think about this idea?

While I think that this is probably the road TPTB are going to take – I will find it VERY contrived if Peter is actually torn up about this ‘baby’. It came of a relationship in which he was being conned and the mother is a woman who (probably) would have killed Olivia or any one else if they were her orders. Am I really supposed to believe that he would give up everything for this? Get real. Babies are not magic and ones concieved out of deceit are not as precious and do not elicit the same kind of ‘magnetic pull’ that babies in normal or healthy relationships elicit.
Also – “be a better man than your father” – maybe Peter will be the better man by NOT saving his kid? Maybe it will be better for the universe if Peter lets the baby “go”? Just a thought I keep having…

Totally agree. All along to keep this arc going, they have had Peter have unrealistic reactions/feelings about the whole relationship dupe thing with Bolivia. That’s why this whole triangle thing just doesn’t work for me, because it is not organic and more contrived than most things on this show. The writers keeping pushing this Bolivia thing with Peter, when it is based on lies, deception. Peter knows this, but they still have him feeling conflicted about the relationship. Rolls eyes. Honestly.

I, for one, am happy to see forward movement from Olivia. Both she and Peter had mind-bending experiences and I think it’s reasonabke that she O.D.s on her own misery and decides to wipe the slate clean. I’ve done it myself, and it’s liberating. [Though not over my other-worldly crush bonking my doppleganager from another universe!

I’m also excited to see anothere Jacksonville-like episode with some excitement. It feels like it’s been a long time since we’ve had an action-oriented episode that involved the big picture stuff.
Will Olivia and Peter make it out of the quaking building on the edge of becoming a vortex? Will Walter find a way to plug the hole? (Whatever happened to the hand-held plug they used to chop Mr. Jones in half, anyway?) Will Peter and Olivia totally get it…together?
So many questions! I haven’t been this psyched for an episode in a while, and I’m generally pretty smitten with this show.

i know, besides apologizing and saying that he doesn’t prefer altlivia over her, which may work as a tacit declaration of love (not for me), he hasn’t really made an attempt to tell olivia bluntly that he wants to be with her regardless of what’s happened… i’m guessing that’s because he’s not sure himself… but then again, a lot must happen in this episode if they end up making out!
