1 Less Reason to be ‘Glee’-ful

Not so gleefulAccording to Exec. Producer JR. Orci Fringe will be airing 6 more episodes this season, as opposed to 7. This takes the season total down to 20 episodes from the original 21. The reason for this reduction is Fox’s decision to air a ‘sneak peak’ of their new show, “Glee”, on May 19 after American Idol. Meaning that Fringe only has 6 episode spaces to play with when it returns on April 7.

Fox chairman, Peter Liguori, talks about the decision to air Glee after AI:

“An ambitious and unique show such as Glee deserves an ambitious and unique kick-off. We also wanted to take advantage of the huge American Idol promotional platform to launch the marketing campaign in May.”

This is the latest in a growing line of disappointing decisions from Fox concerning Fringe. The most curious factor for me, is that Glee will go on it’s own three month hiatus after it’s premiere. Personally, I’m not sure there’s much point in that.

Maybe it’s a case of ‘swings and roundabouts’, although Fringe fans could use a bone right about now. A second season confirmation would be nice.

Fringe returns to Fox with 7 6 brand new episodes from April 7.

So are we seriously looking at Fringe circling the drain here? I don’t want to have to start living in denial over yet another thing ….. :(

I weep for Victor Garber’s TV career. After the utter brilliance of his “Alias” spy-daddy, Jack Bristow, it’s been a downward spiral for VG.

With the annoying “Justice” (another FOX pooper) and his forgettable series “Eli Stone” now behind him, not to mention a highly disappointing two-nighter based on the novel “The Last Templar”, our man Victor is now on board for “Glee”, an hour-long musical dramedy, which immediately conjures up images of the EXTREMELY SHORT-LIVED “Viva Laughlin”. In other words, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

I will go way out on a limb and predict that “Glee” will tie “Viva Laughlin” with a two-episode run, prior to disappearing off the face of the earth for freaking ever….which will free VG up for his next sub-prime assignment.

Jack Bristow, we hardly knew ya.
